During a role-playing game, Debbie says that she will "cast Magic Missile to attack the darkness." This is a reference to the "Dungeons and Dragons" sketch by comedy group The Dead Alewives, in which an inept player is desperate to cast Magic Missile in a dark cavern even though there is no enemy around to fight; in response, and to the amusement of all other players, he proclaims, "I attack the darkness!" It's notable that this sketch is a parody of the same religious backlash against role-playing games that the Jack Chick tract "Dark Dungeons" was based in.

The kind of movie you watch to torture yourself.

Honestly, this feels more of a poorly written joke made by a couple of people with no idea of board games. Am I supposed to take this movie seriously ?
