It has been 6 months since I bingewatched the 3 series of Professor T. I was enamoured by it, particularly Ella Leyers.
For months I scoured the internet and streaming sites hoping to see more of her but all I found was a 20 second piece in the film Annette in which she didn't speak.
It was then, just by chance that I found the show hidden away on Channel 4's All 4 website under a totally different name; The Score you could say Back Of The Net!).
In less than a week, I have devoured the show.
Ella Leyers doesn't really have a big role here nor does Steve Geerts whom was a mainstay or Prof. T in the latter half of it's 3 series run.
The first and second series of Prof T were screened between the first and second series of this show with lots of familiar faces on show.
OK, so this was going to be a winner with me before I even started watching it.
It isn't as strong as Prof. T, not as intense nor comedic but there is humour, mainly from Ibi, which does become trained in the second series.
Such a shame they didn't so more with Roger from the garden centre. He was a great laugh.
The show isn't just for football fans (there are some lovely cars on show too!) but there are plenty of relationships going on to keep everyone interested (Miss Belgium in a basque, stockings and suspenders- rather!).
Despite watching the whole show, I am still not sure about Oscar Willems being the main character, his bother is far more credible and seems to have more gravitas.
This is a great family drama there is some swearing but very little in the way of sex to embarrass younger viewers but there is a very earthy scene between Dennis and Shari in the club (and she ends up in the club!).
A good easy watch full of highs and lows and no matter whom your team is in real life, you sort of become a Genk fan and join in the excitement.
Sports dramas are hard to replicate but this does pretty well. It does seem a strange way to end series 2 unless they were leaving it open for more. Thankfully, they knew when to end it!
The longer episodes in series tow made the episodes drag a touch but a strong 8 from me - but now I am lost again with nothing else from Ella to watch.
The English version of Professor T is quite good but the Belgian original is quite original series 3 does struggle in the first half though!).
The Twelve looks interesting and my Flemish is improving no end.
Danku!
