Fast Racing Neo

F-Zero and Wipout are basically dead, so a niche German developer decided to revive the genre for the smallest audience possible, hm. I only heard about it due to the high review scores + the lack of WiiU games in general and this is entry No.2. Who bought the original WiiWare game though? Shin'en thankfully stuck with it but giving the game a nostalgic F-Zero skin would have raised market interest. The multiplayer would have gotten more online players, as it's a near wasteland, too. I am still amazed how much polished content the game has for a budget title. The DLC tracks are also included in the (EU only) retail release and 25€ is a price more console developers should try out. The amount of modes could have been increased, but I also played full price PS4/Xbone games will less in them! The racing itself feels like F-Zero, the high difficulty is similar too, but getting into the top 3 is enough to progress. The smooth graphics are quite good for an indie game and the music is very Wipeout. Starving genre fans need to get it on principle alone but be aware that the content package is somewhat limited and "unoriginal". 7,5/10
