Granted, from the movie's cover and the recent string of Vivamax Tagalog movies I have seen, then I wasn't harboring much of any grand expectations to this movie. But still, I had never heard about it, and thus opted to give director Ma-an L. Asuncion-Dagñalan's 2023 movie a fair chance.
Jesus Christ, not even ten minutes into the ordeal and there was already two nude and very graphic softcore scenes. And that pretty much set the standard for what to expect from this movie. And using the term movie here is stretching it, because it felt like nothing more than an excuse for director Ma-an L. Asuncion-Dagñalan to put lewd scenes on film.
Writers Michael Angelo Dagñalan and Melchor Escarcha actually didn't come up with a bad script. The story was watchable, I will say that. But the movie was just utterly ruined by the constant nudity and lewd scenes.
Needless to say that I was not familiar with a single actress or actor on the cast list. But I am a bit complexed why some talents would appear in movies such as this. But I suppose a pay cheque is a pay cheque regardless. Despite the movie's lewd script, I will say that the acting scenes, in between the nudity and lewd scenes, were actually fair.
A movie such as "Home Service" hardly paints the Tagalog cinema in a good light. And this is definitely not a movie that I would recommend you to waste 114 minutes on watching.
My rating of "Home Service" lands on a very, very generous two out of ten stars.
