In 2011, Greg Joseph won the Best Monster Character acting award at the Shockfest Film Festival of Hollywood for his performance as The Tall Man in "Ritual," a re-creation of the iconic role of the same name played by Angus Scrimm in the 1979 cult horror classic "Phantasm" and its sequels, which "Ritual" pays tribute to. Greg and Scrimm have a number of things in common: Greg was born in Kansas City, Mo., in August 1946, Scrimm was born in Kansas City, Kansas, in August 1926. Both Greg and Scrimm had also been journalists, and both had worked for newspapers in Southern California.
