The Tequila Effect is a story of love and corruption. Jose Fierro is an ambitious young stockbroker who, in 1994, yields to the temptation of an apparent Mexican economic boom, which will lead to national disaster. He becomes involved in illicit financial dealings and encounters the forces of political and economic power and, in the long run, his own death, while his wife Analuisa is tempted by an adulterous erotic liaison. The Tequila Effect is the reflection of a country that is forced to confront a permanent economic crisis but refuses to be broken by it. And it is a bold film dealing with the virtues and vices of human beings.
