When this short began, I was expecting the usual short film--after all, that's where it's listed on IMDb. However, soon I realized that this was really a music video--and I thought IMDb didn't list them. Regardless of what exactly it is, one thing is clear--I really liked the music and the video. I have never heard of the Southern Backtones and they seem like goths, a grunge band and Southern rock all rolled into one with this song--and it had a really haunting sound that really hooked me as I never have heard anything like this before.
Now before you read any more, understand that I am a 44 year-old school teacher who likes heavy metal and classical (I know this makes little sense) and perhaps the target audience (significantly younger than me, I am sure) might not enjoy it as much. I just thought the song was great--so interesting that I then checked them out on Rhapsody AND plan on playing one of their songs to my high school students tomorrow to find out if they, too, like the sound.
As for the video portion, the film was shot in a grocery store and was nice--though still limited by the fact that it was essentially a music video. Still, for a music video it was great and I was sure impressed.
By the way, Rhapsody lists the group's genre as "psychobilly"! I've never heard that term before and may never again!
