Confessions of a Sinner

I have not viewed thd dozens of features from the VIsual Art label, a European source of Adult Cinema that is trying for something different from the current norm. This movie directed by the palindrome-named Roma Amor (moniker styled a la porn star Ramon Nomar) is highly effective and artistic in telling a simple story with high style.

Simony Diamond is a revelation freed here from gonzo to give a fine acting performance as the title character, seen in Catholic church confessional telling of her sexual behavior. All is not what it seems, with fine clues provided by the director, and the narrative is presented visually and with her voiceover narration, rather than time out for dialog or exposition scenes.

So the public's current desire for "all sex" rather than a traditional movie in their XXX enertainment is satisfied, but director Roma stages the show with consistent artistry. Lighting is always dramatic and cinematic, with even the necessary genital close-ups appearing vivid and tactile rather than the often gynecological exam look of an assembly-line porn video. Cast is very effective in pantomime, supporting Simony's smashing turn.
