The scene where CJ meets his fate wasn't intended to be a rain scene, as there was no rain during the actual blackout on August 14th 2003. Production halted several times, in hopes that it would stop. Everytime the rain stopped and the cameras started rolling, it would start to rain again. Finally, the director decided it was destined to be shot this way, thus adding a dramatic effect to the scene.

People can't see a good movie when it's staring them in the face.

This movie was really good for me and totally realistic.The production was good and the actors were more than standard. Everything, from dialogue to emotional reactions came from somewhere and that matters when you consider some of the realities the movie is show-casing. People complain about stereotyped characters, but face it, the world is full of stereotypes who follow their given script without question. These characters are also beautifully contrasted with people who aren't stereotypical 'thugs' and that's what I like about this movie - the different ways of living in one shared space.

Also it is totally worth your time.
