I knew I would probably enjoy the Swedish porn thriller ARVSYNDEN when the opening credits listed in several flunky positions one "Woody Bergman". This tongue-in-cheek effort resembles what might have occurred had Woody Allen applied his WHAT'S UP, TIGER LILY? irreverent re-dub to one of his own serious works, say INTERIORS.
Well-shot on film but overlong (due to the need to include both plot scenes and lengthy sex intervals), the film has the corny format of a group of people gathered at a mansion for the reading of a will. Cast members are killed off mysteriously, in the time-honored TEN LITTLE INDIANS approach of Agatha Christie, with plenty of twists. I suppose it could be watched by three sorts of fans: thriller lovers, oddball comedy freaks and porn addicts, but it is the last group who will enjoy it.
Director Mike Beck is clever enough to keep me interested. The first scene is a comedy grabber: bombastic movie star (played by top-heavy Lucika Devil) is among the first to arrive, accompanied by her special effects expert/boyfriend George Lucas! Lucas is played by an odd-looking bald Black stud (his package later revealed to be impressive), with the funny acting moniker Samson Biceps. Silly, but effective nonsense on the English-soundtrack.
Casting of unfamiliar faces (and bodies) is effective, with a balance between siliconed Swedish babes and very natural ones. The guys were hired for their big dicks, just like in American porn.
Other amusing credits are Nikki Dane, sexy as Anna and doubling as the film's caterer (!), plus Tina as "fluffer".
Tech credits are way superior to most porn, and some enterprising distributor should ship Beck's goofy catalog of porn to American audiences, always hungry (as they used to say in the '60s Adult Movie trailers) "for something different".
