Though movie was not that bad as some called this film at the time of the release. Raju Chacha is a decent movie which should have worked at the box office. But the budget was so high, it failed to click at box office, despite decent collection.
The story:
The story of the film is of Siddhant Rai (Rishi Kapoor), who is a weatlhy businessman looking for teacher for his three young children. They enjoys a lavish and a luxurious life. He hires Anna (Kajol) as governess for his children. Shekhar(Ajay Devgan) is a conman who loves Anna. The life of children turns upside down when Siddhant Rai dies and his relatives decide to capture his property. Then comes Shekhar, posing as their paternal uncle Raju to save children from going to orphanage. Drama further gets comples when another man who claims to be the real Raju Chacha and brother of Siddhant Rai appears.
Raju chacha first half is somewhat slow, but the second half when Rishi Kapoor is eliminated and Ajay Devgan emerges as Raju Chacha is some what well made and engaging.
This is basically a kid movie and it has the best special effect for an hindi movie in that period. Visually the film is briliant and till the release of the film, this was the best visual hindi film ever.
The script unfortunately is not that strong as its visual effect. The movie is also a bit lengthy.
First time director Anil Devgan does a decent job but fails at some point in the movie. Lead actors Ajay Devgan, Rishi Kapoor and Kajol are fabolous in their roles. Children are sweet and cute looking and does their part well. Johnny lever is humourous as always.
Overall this movie meets expectations at some point but falls short very often. Kids even today would like the movie and still this movie is watchable for adult ones also.
Music:
The music of the movie has been composed by Jatin Lalit and is the second strongest point in the movie after visual effect. The songs are soulful and soft. Especially 'Tune Mujhe Pahchana Nahi' was an instant hit at that time.
