Have you seen the movie "Run, Lola, Run"? Then you really don't need to see this Hong Kong copy...But I'd recommend that you do anyway. Simon Fish is a small-time HK triad member on a working vacation in Malaysia to exchange a stolen ring for a envelope filled with money. The deal goes off without a hitch, but the money is stolen while he's in the men's room and if he doesn't meet Brother John to give him the money in a few hours time, he's dead. Meet Simon's hot-tempered, bickering girlfriend Ruby. It's up to her to "run" around Kuala Lumpur to try to get money to replace it. Like in the German movie, she goes to her father's bank, her ex-boyfriend's mansion, etc. to try to get the money (why are all their friends and relatives in Kuala Lumpur? I guess it's cheaper to film in Malaysia.) Despite copying "Lola" scene for scene in some places, the movie is really a lot of fun to watch. There are a lot of laughs, and the volatile relationship between Simon and Ruby makes them a much more likeable couple than the German one. The actor playing Brother John makes for a great crazed killer, and there's a lot of fun Hong Kong martial arts violence in the mix. If you're looking for a fun movie to waste an hour and a half, this is a good bet. Good luck finding it though because as far as I know, it's never left Hong Kong. One of the more enjoyable on-screen couples I've seen in years. You start off wondering why they're together, and end up rooting for them to get away with it. Lola is a much more "quality" film, don't get me wrong. But this one is fun too.
