This movie is a remake of the Konkani film Nirmon which also means fate starring the same actress Shalini Mardolkar. Konkani is a language spoken in the Konkan, a coastal strip on the western coast of India starting in Maharashtra (near Bombay) and extending through Goa to Karnataka (near Mangalore). It is probably the only language (other than Hindi) that is spoken in three states.
There were very few Konkani language films made and this was one of the best. The print is probably lost. But I remember seeing them both and Taqdeer is a good facsimile of the original, made especially so by the appearance of the same actress in both the movies. I love the song "Jab Jab Bahar Aaye" - a Mohammad Rafi classic which is also sung by Lata Mangeshkar. Watch them both on YouTube. It is difficult to remain dry-eyed by Lata's version sung by a very young Farida Jalal.
