Publicity for the film stated that this was the first villainous role of Gregory Peck's career. Peck felt that his portrayal of Nazi war criminal Dr. Josef Mengele was the only completely unsympathetic role that he ever performed. However, Peck's characters in Duelo ao Sol (1946), Moby Dick (1956), and Estigma da Crueldade (1958) have often been described as villains.

Absorbing

Old veterans Gregory Peck, Laurence Olivier and James Mason team up in this well-constructed and absorbing thriller. The plot sounded so bizarre that I had to check the film out. Although there is some choppy editing and cartoonish acting, "The Boys from Brazil" makes for a good viewing.
