- CuriosidadesThis has the unusual distinction of being a remake of a movie that was never made in the first place. When American International made a deal with Larry Buchanan to remake some of their movies ("It Conquered the World" became "Zontar, the Thing from Venus," "The She-Creature" became "Creature of Destruction" and so forth), they evidently included a script based on Richard Matheson's story "Being." The production had gone by several titles, including "G.O.O.", and was to have starred Peter Lorre and Elsa Lanchester. Apparently Lorre's death canceled the project, so AIP earned back some of their money by passing the script on to Buchanan.
- Erros de gravaçãoBella the housekeeper is able to enter the cell where the three prisoners are kept, which she does multiple times, bringing them food and water. The three captives could easily overpower her, or just follow her out of the cave, yet instead they hatch a plan to have her smuggle them dynamite to blow up the cell bars.

Larry Buchanan's IT'S ALIVE starts off like any home movie, complete with nonsensical narration rivaling that found in THE BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS! A car cruises along, as Mr. And Mrs. Stern take in the sights. A windshield wiper squeaks along with the music. Here, Larry is just showing off, easily outdoing the opening scene from MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE!
The travelers arrive at an old house in the middle of nowhere, belonging to an angry farmer named Greely (Bill Thurman) and his downtrodden wife, Bella (Annabelle Weenick). Before they know it, Greely takes the Sterns into his secret cave and horror erupts!
Or something like that.
Never trust crusty old farmers! They usually have more than just farming on their minds! What is this foul tiller of the soil up to? Could mad science be afoot? Can some hideous mutation be far off?
As Buchanan movies go, IT'S ALIVE has some charming touches: #1- Norman Stern (Corveth Ousterhouse) as one of the most insufferably snarky characters in sub-sludge cinema history! #2- A bloated Tommy Kirk and his prehistoric biology lesson! #3- A jaw-dropping monster! Picture a man-sized Kermit The Frog with fangs, and you get the idea!
A truly wretched endeavor on all fronts...
