Inventing Star

Jill Kelly took a different route from the usual porn "Inside" or "About" showcase of a top actress with "Inventing Star", a clearly fictionalized bio of the beautiful Star E. Knight, my favorite actress among Jill's group of contract players.

We have interviews and scenes from Star's past, up to her becoming a successful stripper and then Adult performer. It's not as dramatic as a fictionalized biopic, nor as tortured as recent extremely phony mainstream atrocities treating greats ranging from Miles Davis (horrible stab by Don Cheadle) and Amy Whitehouse (negatory documentary) to Nina Simone (utterly misleading).

Instead we have a pleasant look at Star the nonpareil beauty, and enough arousing sex to please any fan of Kelly's Couples Romances content. The supporting cast is well-chosen for both solid sexuality and their acting ability, and I appreciated the balance between spotlighting Knight while providing considerable variety (those '70s and '80s "Inside" porn features were generally way too top-heavy in featuring a Jennifer Welles or Annie Sprinkle in every scene).

Skye Blue is quite a director, certainly one of the most versatile and reliable working in Adult, and keeps this "female-friendly", no mean feat in such a misogynist-dominated part of show biz.
