Speight introduced "The Vampire Dance", a provocative stage dance illustrating a female vampire seducing and feeding on a hapless male. Despite vociferous objection from many conservatives over its strong erotic intimations, it became a global sensation, drawing large crowds in the Vaudeville circuit. The dance was inspired by Rudyard Kipling's immensely popular poem "The Vampire".
