Michael Doshier is a writer and filmmaker based in Los Angeles. As a gay city-dweller who spent his formative years in the Bible Belt, his work focuses on the often-overlooked intricacies of the queer coming-of-age experience.
His feature film "Throuple" (which he wrote and stars in) has been programmed in the following 2024 film festivals: Boston Wicked Queer, Outshine Miami, Pink Apple, Sunny Bunny, Lovers, Windsor International, and Frameline. "Throuple" is an open-relationship rom-com inspired by Doshier's time dating married men while singing with his band in Brooklyn's underground music scene.
But in recent years, Doshier has become determined to bring his next project home with him: to the Queer South. Michael's script "Ronita Rambo" found semi-finalist status of the 2023 Academy Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting (one of only 150 out of 5,599). It also advanced in the Sundance Development Lab. Michael's TV pilot "Branson" won the 2018 Missouri Stories Competition, a fellowship run by the Missouri Film Office to find and foster the best stories set within the state.
Michael has written and performed sold-out and critically acclaimed solo shows for The PIT's SoloCom Festival and Fringe Festivals in both New York City and Prague. He holds his BFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU Tisch, where he achieved the Venable Herndon Award for Excellence in Screenwriting.
