Tusk, a sparky directing duo made up of Kerry Furrh & Olivia Mitchell, was one of the youngest directors at Tribeca Film Festival in 2016 with short Girl Band, which received press in New York Mag and later sold to Freeform. Since then, Tusk has directed and produced a menagerie of music videos, commercials, and scripted content for Tate McRae, Liquid Death, Camila Cabello, Google, Alessia Cara, Brandy, and the Met Gala, to name a few. Continually infusing a gutsy art-directed flare, Tusk has been known to do wackadoo shit like put Alessia Cara on a giant CGI martini olive while still somehow intimating a deeper human truth about love and longing. Their bold repertoire recently landed them a spot on ADWEEK's Creative Top 100 of 2024.
Kerry and Olivia's personal journey is as textured as their professional one. Starting as teenage best friends at USC who bonded over filmmaking, pranks, and a shared pet rat, their relationship blossomed into something deeper and more meaningful over the years. Now partners in both work and life, their personal evolution is a source of authenticity especially evident in their coming-of-age narratives. They have always loved stories of ambition, optimistic oddballs, and hopeful dreamscapes, but their newest short film "Ripe!" marks the duo's first openly queer project, premiering and winning Best Narrative Short at Tribeca eight years after their initial Tribeca appearance. This time in touch with their truest selves, these creative soulmates are experiencing a full-circle moment, bonded by their belief in the transformative magic of storytelling.
Now with a refined style and a couple of vibrant festival shorts, the duo is expanding their presence in the scripted TV and film world as writer-directors, producers, and beyond. They are currently developing a selection of women & queer focused projects that share a buoyant zest for life and pulse on pop culture. The goal? To poke fun at the gravity of the world while lifting up the "weird" kids.
