Rich survived a 40-ft. fall from a fraternity house at The Ohio State
University. The broken neck resulted in an abrupt end to his football
career (Rich walked-on to the Ohio State football team as a linebacker)
and an Honorable Discharge from the Marine Corps (Rich landed one of
only five slots available that year for the Flight Program after being
accepted into training at Quantico). He went on to win seven Emmy awards as
an investigative reporter and anchor at TV stations in Phoenix,
Columbus, and West Virginia. Rich is married to a COVID front-line nurse and they have four children.
