- Mangal Singh played by Vinod Khanna is a dreaded dacoit of the Chambal valley who mercilessly loots people and kills them and has a reward of Rs. 5000 on his head which becomes Rs.50,000. His lady love is Champa, played by Reena Roy, who wants him to leave this life and get married to her. On the other side of the coin is Bhola, a village simpleton, extremely honest and religious, who is very poor and so is scolded by his mother played by Achala Sachdev. Taking offense he decides to end his life and in the process is caught by Mangal Singh's aides, who take him to Mangal Singh. When Mangal Singh comes to know that Bhola wanted to end his life due to poverty, he trades with him that as Mangal Singh's true identity is not known by the police, Bhola should become Mangal Singh, get caught deliberately and hang instead of him, whence the real Mangal Singh will collect the reward of Rs.50,000 from the government and give to Bhola's family. The course of events however reveal that Mangal Singh is in reality Bhola's true brother. Also Bhola's lady love, played by Rekha will not let him commit suicide and chides him for running after money. The police however have already recognized Bhola as dacoit Mangal Singh. Will Bhola's stance be vindicated and what will be the fate of the real dacoit Mangal Singh?

- Story of Military commitment by a military wife, Shobha (Calcutta, 1942) played by Nirupa Roy, who in spite of losing her husband to the Air Force and World War 2, despite hardships, carrying the family legacy forward, educates her only son Deepak (played by Biswajeet) to join the Air Force. Deepak also shows firm commitment to his vocation and legacy when forced into taking a decision to choose between his lady love, Preeti (played by Rajshree) and his Air Force Service, by Preeti's parents who fear that Air Force service will endanger his life. Preeti too, opts to serve the Red Cross so that she could be with Deepak.
- The story revolves around the pain of children that parents have, even adopted ones in India. Shankar, played by Danny, is a small-time crook who is given number one by gang leader (Kader Khan), though his accomplice No. 7, who uses him and gets him embroiled in a false murder. Shankar who deeply loves his wife Nanda (Deepti Naval) and daughter Meena (Mandakini), is devastated when he finds out that his newborn son has an incurable fever; he rushes to Dr. S. Malhotra (Suresh Oberio), who refuses to treat his son out of turn--and the baby dies. Full of vengeance, Shankar abducts the doctor's son Shoorveer and hands him to Iqbal to maim and make a beggar. Iqbal is saved in epilepsy by Shoorveer, who then brings him up as his own son. Meanwhile Shankar is caught by the police and imprisoned and his daughter and wife, by strange turn of events, are employed by Dr. Malhotra who, moved by their love and care, takes care of them. Shoorveer saves the life of the doctor's adopted daughter Meena, and both develop a teenage affection; they're then separated and then meet again in youth when Shoorveer is part of a gypsy entourage who love him. Nanda and Dr. Malhotra do not like their relationship, and Meena is being pursued by Rakesh Bedi who is Kader Khan's son. The story revolves around how Danny hungers for his family, Dr. Malhotra's pain to meet his long lost son, his love for his adopted daughter Meena, and the love of Meena and Shoorveer.
