Ronja Savela is a (Indian) Finnish actress. She was trained at a 2-year acting program at a community college in Sweden and completed one year at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. She has primarily done theater and is playing Emily in the coming feature film Godmode (2025).
Ronja Savela was born in Turku, Finland, to a Finnish mother and an Indian father, who both worked as massage therapists. Her mother was a big fan of Astrid Lindgrens stories, and named Savela after the character in Ronja the Robbers Daughter. Savela lived in Turku for one year before they moved to the Aland Islands, where her younger sister was born. Shortly after that, when Savela was about 4 years old, her parents split up, leading her mother to move with the two daughters to Sweden.
When Savela was 6, she moved with her mother and sister to Grass Valley, California, where they lived for 10 years. When Savela was in 8th grade she found her love of acting while performing the end of year play, "The Princess Bride", where she played the "Boo"-lady and Miracle Max. This lead her to choose theater as an elective during her freshman year at Nevada Union High School. Shortly after her freshman year ended, her mother moved them back to Finland, where her little brother was born. In 2015 she auditioned for a 2-year acting program at Katrinebergs Folkhögskola (community college) in Sweden, and was accepted. She did two years, landing the leading role in her first year production, and touring with her second year production through Sweden.
After Savela's school years she joined a theater group in Falkenberg, Sweden, and performed as Bertha in the play "Gnistregn" (2019), an original play with scenes from Ingmar Bergmans works. This lead her to be cast in the play "Kungamötet at Halmstad Slott 1619" as the romantic lead, Line, in the summer of 2019.
In November 2019 she moved to Stockholm, where she was cast and acted in the play "ANNA - ett svart drama" as the supporting role Karin, which premiered March 2022. In the fall of 2022 she produced, directed and acted in her own theater project along with her co-actor Alice Andrea Störby. "Fredag klockan 4" premiered November 2022.
