Alex Essoe has a lot of horror credits to her name. Starry Eyes, Tales of Halloween, Doctor Sleep, Death of Me, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club, Trim Season, The Pope’s Exorcist… the list goes on. Lou Taylor Pucci’s genre credits include the 2013 Evil Dead and episodes of American Horror Story. And now, Essoe and Pucci are going to earn a new horror credit together, as they’re set to star in a horror film called The Avalanche.

The Avalanche will mark the feature directorial debut of Johnny Coffeen, who has previously directed several short films (his 2016 short The Swan Girl was screened at David Lynch’s Festival Of Disruption and won a Student Academy Award) and worked as an Assistant Editor on Destin Daniel Cretton’s Short Term 12. Deadline reports that this psychological horror film will center on two former lovers forced together...

Genre favorite Alex Essoe is adding another horror credit to her resume with The Avalanche.

Deadline reports that the actress has signed on to star in the indie film alongside Lou Taylor Pucci (Evil Dead), with principal photography set to begin this month.

Cuban-American writer-director Johnny Coffeen, who began as the assistant editor of Short Term 12, will make his feature debut on the psychological horror film.

The Avalanche follows two former lovers, played by Essoe and Pucci, forced together by an avalanche that cuts them off from the world.

“As the weight of their shared history begins to crack the thin veneer of civility, strange apparitions stir in the dark corners of their shelter. Reality and paranoia bleed together as buried secrets claw their way to the surface, leaving them to question whether the true danger lies outside the cabin—or within.”

Exclusive: The Walking Dead actor Katelyn Nacon and NHL Hall of Famer Phil Esposito have signed on to star in the horror comedy Hacked: A Double Entendre of Rage Fueled Karma alongside veteran actor Richard Riehle.

The feature from Shane Brady and Emily Zercher follows kids Ralph (Owen Atlas) and Freddy (Collin Thompson), who lead the charge with their parents, Amy (Augie Duke) and Mark (Shane Brady), to take down the world’s most elusive hacker, “The Chameleon” (Chandler Riggs) after their family has everything stolen from them.

Also joining the cast are Xavier Jimenez (The Book of Boba Fett), Brett Maline (Loki Season 2), Jaime Moyer (A.P. Bio), and Rob Belushi (Get a Clue). Local Florida charities Be The Match, and Tsc Alliance have also partnered with the filmmakers.

Chandler Riggs is best known for playing the character Carl Grimes on eight seasons of The Walking Dead, but he has a few horror credits beyond that one – the short Jesus H. Zombie, the Stephen King-inspired Mercy, and the home invasion film Keep Watching. Now Variety reports that Riggs has signed on to star in the horror comedy Hacked, which has secured a SAG Interim agreement so it will be able to go into production during the ongoing Screen Actors Guild strike and is expected to start filming soon in Los Angeles and Tampa.

Shane Brady (Breathing Happy) will be directing the film, which is partially inspired by true events. Brady and producer Emily Zercher were hacked in 2021, and according to Variety “the first ten minutes of the film will be based on their experience. The rest of the film shows ‘what they wish they could have done to that bastard.

Chandler Riggs, the actor who grew up playing Carl Grimes on “The Walking Dead,” is set to return to the genre once more in Hacked. Variety reports today that the upcoming horror-comedy has been granted an interim agreement by SAG-AFTRA and is set to begin production soon.

While the concept of time seems more and more like a candy bar that I left in the car that eventually warps and melts into everything, there were still a lot of amazing horror movies, TV series, and experiences in 2022, and somehow I found the time to enjoy quite a lot of them. From two excellent film festivals to many amazing movie screenings to experiences that I’ll cherish in my horror-loving heart for the rest of my life, here are my reflections on some of my favorites of 2022:

Exclusive: Cinedigm has acquired North American rights to the addiction drama Breathing Happy. The film will stream exclusively on the Company’s platform Fandor from December 13.

Written, directed, and starring Shane Brady, Breathing Happy is billed as a wildly surreal yet emotionally grounded update on It’s a Wonderful Life, and centers around recovering addict Dylan (Brady) as he prepares to celebrate one year of sobriety alone on Christmas Day. The synopsis reads: Before the clock can strike midnight, his past demons tempt him to fail in the form of a talking golden door, his ex-drug dealer, and magic tricks. The film debuted at the 2022 Chattanooga Film Festival and picked up honors at the Popcorn Frights film festival, including the New Nightmare Award and the award for Best Feature for a First Time Filmmaker.

He spends the holiday alone having lost friends and family to his addictions and his inability to take responsibility for his actions. But just as he’s about to reach his goal of one full year being sober, his past demons show up, tempting him to fail.
