The series finale of Gotham Knights aired earlier this week, and one cast member has now spoken out about the ending of the series. Misha Collins played Gotham City district attorney Harvey Dent in the superhero crime drama, and he says the showrunners knew the odds were against it getting a second season.
Starring Oscar Morgan, Olivia Rose Keegan, Navia Robinson, Fallon Smythe, Tyler Dichiara, Anna Lore, and Rahart Adams, Gotham Knights follows the next generation of superheroes after the death of Batman.

Gotham Knights co-creator Natalie Abrams didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye.
On the night of the drama’s series finale on the CW, Abrams — who created the DC Comics-based drama with Chad Fiveash and James Patrick Stoteraux — posted a heartfelt message Tuesday for her beloved “BatBrats” who were about to see their show end after one season.
The series from DC, Warner Bros. TV and Greg Berlanti Prods. was a respectable ratings performer but was canceled to make way for the network’s new (see: cheaper) business model.
“Gotham Knights is coming to an end,” Abrams said on Twitter. “It’s taken a while to accept this fact, to grieve the loss of something so unique and ethereal as this first project. From the moment I pitched Greg Berlanti the two sentences that would become this oddball underdog of a show, it no longer belonged to me.

Last week was a good one for the NHL’s Golden Knights, who won the Stanley Cup, but not for The CW’s Gotham Knights, which was canceled after its freshman season. Today Misha Collins, who starred as the dashing, idealistic District Attorney and Gotham City mayoral candidate Harvey Dent, took to social media to reflect on the superhero series and thank its Bat Brat fans.
“I’m incredibly bummed, and selfishly disappointed to not be able to fully explore my ‘villain arc,'” he wrote on Instagram (see the post below), “but I’m proud of the show we made and so grateful to have been able to work with such a smart, caring, good group of people.”
Said “villain arc” was to be Dent’s transformation into the horribly disfigured and shunned Batman adversary Two-Face.

After just one season, the finale of which airs June 27, the DC series cancellation news comes alongside renewal announcements for “All American: Homecoming” and “Superman & Lois.”
Focusing on Batman’s adopted son after the Dark Knight’s death, the show shares a premise with a video game dropped last year, though the two are unrelated. The heroes of Gotham attempt to maintain justice after the Caped Crusader’s untimely demise.

The CW has canceled Gotham Knights after one season.
The DC Comics-based drama was one of three scripted series whose fate had been left in limbo along with Superman & Lois and All American: Homecoming, which both are being renewed. A total of four existing CW dramas will make it to next season, along with previously renewed All American and Walker.
Gotham Knights has been a respectable ratings performer and, under different circumstances, could’ve made it to a second season but, with the business model of the CW changing under its new ownership, only a handful of highly rated (by CW standards) existing scripted series could make the cut.
“We love all those shows, and they all do very well for us in different ways” the CW’s Entertainment President Brad Schwartz said last month about Superman & Lois, All American: Homecoming and Gotham Knights.

The titular teens, framed fugitives in the murder of the Dark Knight (aka Bruce Wayne), must reluctantly explore moving beyond proving their innocence to become the heroes Gotham City needs. “The big question,” co-showrunner Chad Fiveash says, “is how much they will embrace Batman’s legacy and what kind of price they may pay for it.” Especially if they tangle with the Court of Owls, a menacing cabal comprising avowed enemies of the Wayne clan that secretly runs Gotham. The test in the Tuesday, May 2 episode: Should the Knights try to stop the ongoing local art heists? “Gotham Knights” has arrived on The CW, but this time, there’s no Batman in Gotham.
In fact, the Bat is dead, and it’s unclear who killed him. But of course, plenty of people are going to put their minds to solving the case of Gotham’s most reclusive billionaire and dark knight. But it might just be some of the city’s youngest — and criminally active — residents that are able to piece it together.
“Gotham Knights” follows Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan), Batman’s adopted son, as he teams up with the children of some of Batman’s most notable rogues to bring his father’s killer to justice. Also on the case is Gotham’s esteemed Da Harvey Dent (Misha Collins), but we all know how his story turns out…

The CW’s Gotham Knights wasted no time throwing us into a shocking mystery, one that will see the scions of Batman’s most notorious foes — and no less than Bruce Wayne’s adopted son — attempt to clear their names.

Gotham Knights rises on The CW tonight and while the Arrowverse is no longer with us — nor is Batman, in this case — DC Comics fans do (finally) have something to cheer for. Along with the fabulous Superman & Lois, which precedes it by an hour, this latest entry into SuperTV is a fun ride through familiar territory with a new twist. And we’re into it. Pulling in deep cuts from the comics, Knights centers on Turner Hayes, the adopted son of Bruce Wayne. Just don’t expect a billionaire playboy redux. “He’s nice,” offers Oscar Morgan, the instantly likable British actor behind the scion of Wayne-funded privilege. “He wants to be liked by anyone that will like him really, and he’s well-intentioned.” Admitting that the loner Turner “definitely needs to be ...

The Batman is dead. Long live … his previously unseen adopted son?
That’s the premise behind “Gotham Knights,” the CW’s latest (and last?) DC Comics-based TV series, potentially putting the pin in a remarkable 18-year run encompassing everything from “Smallville” to the expansive “Arrowverse” and the still-airing (for now) “Superman & Lois.” If this is indeed the end, it feels like a sad, destined-to-be-ignored footnote rather than a triumphant farewell.
Of course, the Dark Knight has always been a particularly sparkly gem in the DC crown, which probably accounts for why his solo exploits remain the dominion of feature films, leaving various television offerings to dig and scrape in the corners and crevices of the Batman mythos for storytelling opportunities. Just in the last 10 years we’ve gotten Batman’s city before Batman (Fox’s “Gotham”), Batman’s butler before Batman (Starz/HBO Max’s “Pennyworth”), Batman’s...

There is no Batman in Gotham Knights, unless you count a brief wide shot of Bruce Wayne in his office and a closer one of his bloodied corpse on the sidewalk. That is, indeed, the whole point of Gotham Knights: The series is set in the panicked aftermath of the Caped Crusader’s death, as his adopted son Turner (Oscar Morgan) tries to catch his dad’s killer and in the process emerges as a hero in his own right.
But even in his absence, Batman casts a long shadow — one Gotham Knights struggles to get out from under in the six hourlong episodes sent to critics. It’s Batman’s work that links nearly all the characters, Batman’s death that finally brings them all together, Batman’s history they’re made to sift through and Batman’s legacy they work to live up to. These kids are definitely not alright. But they are cool Af. In The CW‘s new Gotham Knights, a posse of deep-cut, juvenile delinquents from the Batman canon take center stage after they are framed for Bruce Wayne’s murder. Among them: The Joker’s daughter, Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan), and siblings Harper (Fallon Smythe), and Cullen Row (Tyler Dichiara). A band of smalltime hoods, the trio winds up in the Gcpd’s crosshairs early in the pilot, along with Wayne’s adopted son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan), thanks to a crooked cop, a secret cabal and some very “wrong place at the wrong time” bad luck. Obviously, they aren’t actually guilty (it would be kind of hard to root for Gen Z-ers who killed the Dark Knight), although it’s not like the youngins are squeaky clean, either. As we see in the above exclusive sneak peek from the immensely entertaining series premiere,...

Cartwright will play Eunice Harmon. She will make her debut in Episode 4 and recur in Episode 7.
According to her character description, at first glance, Eunice Harmon may seem every bit the sweet old lady living out her twilight years in a nursing home. But that grandmotherly exterior masks a much darker side, one that harbors sinister secrets and has ties to an evil that has plagued Gotham for over a century.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Veronica as a part of Gotham Knights. A veteran of some of the most frightening movies ever made – Alien, 1978’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and Hitchcock’s The Birds – Veronica brings to the role of Eunice Harmon a uniquely chilling sense of danger in an otherwise unassuming package. The CW’s Gotham Knights has cast a pair of key recurring roles, with Ethan Embry and Sunny Mabrey joining the DC Comics drama.
The real-life married couple will play husband and wife on the series as well, with Mabrey debuting as Crystal Brown in the show’s fifth episode and Embry first appearing in episode six as Arthur Brown. In the comics, Arthur Brown is the alter ego of Batman villain Cluemaster.
“We were blown away by Sunny’s audition for Gotham Knights. It was immediately clear she had the expansive emotional range needed to play this deeply polarizing character,” series creators Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux and Natalie Abrams said in a statement. “And then we were delighted to discover that Sunny’s husband is an actor who has many fans among our cast, crew and writers. Ethan’s brought Arthur to life in such rich, delightfully disturbing ways.

Once Upon a Time stars Ethan Embry and Sunny Mabrey are set to recur in Season 1 of The CW‘s upcoming series Gotham Knights.
Mabrey will make her first appearance in Episode 5 as Crystal Brown. Elegant and eye-catching, as the wife of a local celebrity, Crystal exudes a natural, camera-ready charisma. However, to those closest to her, Crystal runs warm as sunshine one minute, and brutally ice cold the next, because she’s battling a secret addiction that could ruin the lives of her entire family.
Embry will debut in Episode 6 as Arthur Brown. The meticulous and eccentric host of a Jeopardy-like game show, Arthur is always the smartest person in the room — and he knows it. On the surface, he’s charming and perfectly coiffed, with high expectations for his daughter, the only person who comes close to matching his intellect. But a dark side lurks beneath the surface,...

Emmanuelle Bercot’s Peaceful (De Son Vivant in the French) is a noble endeavor, if a bit didactic. Above all else the film serves as a solid showcase for its stellar cast. We follow a young acting teacher, Benjamin (Benoît Magimel), who’s doing his best to ignore the fact that he is dying. He’s got pancreatic cancer. His controlling mother Crystal (Catherine Deneuve) appears more urgently worried. Deneuve, unsurprisingly, is the anchor of this picture. The living legend excels at making it look easy, and here—playing both steadfast and guilt-stricken—she’s as natural as ever. A truly impressive less-is-more supporting turn. Magimel also does strong work, accentuating the curse of a cancer-riddled body. He can’t really compete with Deneuve in their scenes together, but who can? Points for the effort alone.

What does it mean to die “peacefully”? Is it possible to find grace and joy in something so solemn? That death has the power to grant forgiveness and empathy is the core tenet of Emmannuelle Bercot’s weepy cancer drama “Peaceful,” which explores a year in the life of a young man facing a terminal diagnosis.
Benoît Magimel (“The Piano Teacher”) stars as Benjamin, a 39-year-old acting teacher and self-described failure who, after some months of back pain, learns that he has Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. It’s a brutal diagnosis not only for him, but also for his mother Crystal (Catherine Deneuve) who likes to believe she’s able to control the heartache and the happiness of her son’s life.
Regardless of how the two choose to “fight” the illness, it will be terminal for Benjamin no matter what. He will die of the disease. How he chooses to spend that final year,...

The CW's latest superhero effort begins with a thud.
A new trailer for Gotham Knights begins with Harvey Dent (Misha Collins) revealing some shocking news to Batman's son Turner (Oscar Morgan).
"It's your father," Harvey says. "He's dead."
What a hook, right?
"My father believed that each of us could become a light and bring a new dawn to Gotham," Turner says at his father's memorial service.
"Batman is dead, and a powder keg has ignited Gotham City without the Dark Knight to protect it," reads the network's official description for the series.

While the last few weeks have seen several DC shows canceled at The CW — including Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and Naomi — at least one new superhero series will hit the network next year: Gotham Knights. The new show follows the next generation of heroes to rise up in Gotham City after the death of Batman. Chief among these new vigilantes is Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan), who must take up his father’s mantle in order to keep his city safe from whoever is trying to frame him and a whole cavalcade of characters from the comics for Batman’s murder.

We've heard of starting things with a bang, but this is extreme—even for Batman. The trailer for Gotham Knights, premiering in 2023 on The CW, opens with Harvey Dent (Misha Collins) delivering some bad news to the Caped Crusader's son Turner (Oscar Morgan). "It's your father," Harvey says. "He's dead." And it only gets crazier from there. "My father believed that each of us could become a light and bring a new dawn to Gotham," Turner says at his father's memorial service. But his hopes are fleeting, as, after Bruce Wayne's death, the city of Gotham devolves into chaos and everybody becomes a suspect—including Batman's own son. Harvey and...

We’ve seen plenty Batman stories, but none where the Dark Knight is dead. That’s where The CW‘s Gotham Knights kicks off. And fans get their first glimpse of Misha Collins‘ Harvey Dent, the children of Gotham’s villains, and more in the Gotham Knights trailer, released Tuesday, May 31 by The CW. The series will debut in 2023. It’s all fun and games as Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan), hosts a party at Wayne Manor until Dent comes knocking with the news that Batman has been murdered, revealing to all of Gotham the Caped Crusader’s true identity. Some suspects are brought in for questioning: Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan), Harper Row (Fallon Smythe), and Cullen Row (Tyler Dichiara), who were hired to break into Wayne’s office, not kill him. One thing they have in common? Their parents are Batman’s enemies, such as the Joker.
