2025 has some great shows returning to network TV, so here are the big ones to look forward to!
TV networks traditionally hold off on shows for midseason, including returning ones. This was bigger after the 2023 Hollywood strikes affected the networks. Thus, a few decided to hold off on full seasons of shows until winter.
There are several shows that debuted in the fall coming back for the second half of their episodes, but these are some big shows coming back for new seasons in 2025 that network TV fans can’t wait to see!

Networks like the CW, Freeform and Fox were once a treasure trove of teen TV, with slates packed with series like “The O.C.,” “Gossip Girl,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “90210.” But as younger audiences completely shun linear, these networks have largely abandoned teen programming.
Ratings for the CW and Freeform, two networks that used to be teen-centric, dropped 30% and 22%, respectively, from 2022 to 2023.
Today streaming is a haven for YA programs viewers once found on network TV. Prime Video tested the waters with series like “The Summer I Turned Pretty” while Netflix produced young audience movies like “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.” Now both streamers have bolstered their teen slates with Prime Video’s recent reboot of ‘90s cult classic “Cruel Intentions” and Netflix’s series “My Life With the Walter Boys,” “Heartstopper,” “Sex Education,” “Xo Kitty” and “Ginny and Georgia.”

The first trailer for All American‘s upcoming seventh season has arrived — and it might make you think you’re watching the show’s pilot episode all over again.
Much like when Billy Baker recruited Spencer James to come play for his football team way back when, Jordan Baker — who’s now coaching at South Crenshaw High — makes a similar offer to Khalil (recently promoted series regular Antonio J. Bell), a troubled Crenshaw student in whom Jordan sees potential.

All American is returning to its origins –South Crenshaw and Beverly Hills high school football.
After Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) exited the series, All American experienced a reboot. Season 7 will feature a new group of teenagers, including Alexis Chikaeze, who plays Preach’s (Kareem Grimes) teenage daughter.
Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling), Layla Keating (Greta Onieogou), and Coop (Bre-z) are all returning and will be the adults this season.

It wouldn’t be All American without rivalries on the field, as the promo shows between Kingston Jeremy (Nathaniel McIntyre) and Yasi (Elijah M. Cooper), the rival quarterbacks. Cassius Jeremy (Osy Ikhile) is Beverly High’s new football coach.
Returning to the beginning will allow the new teens to thrive, and original characters, such as Jordan and Layla, will have the opportunity to show how much they’ve grown.

All American season 7 is going to look a little different compared to previous seasons. A lot of cast members are leaving, but not all for good. While Samantha Logan won't be back as a series regular, we will get to see her during the season.
Logan is one of six Og cast members leaving the series as regulars. She joins Daniel Ezra, Cody Christian, Chelsea Tavares, Karimah Westbrook, and Monét Mazur. Some of these exits make sense with the way the sixth season brought a few storylines to an end. The characters need to eventually grow up.
A Baker sibling reunion is on the cards in All American season 7
When we learned of the six cast members leaving, there was confirmation that the door would be open for them. This wasn't a permanent goodbye for all, and it looks like All American has already set a return for one of them.

Sorry, Ripley fans. This Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 2 review is going to be hard on him.
He spent most of the hour trying to sacrifice his career to protect Scully, only to berate Asher when she refused.
Yes, Scully was dying, but how did Ripley going to jail in his place help anything? This nonsense was more proof that this story needs to go away already.

Ripley’s career was in danger, but Ripley didn’t seem to care very much about that, which made it hard for me to care, either.
This whole Pawel story has been weak. Ripley was going to fight because the guy was a compulsive liar who got away with too much crap, then settled as soon as the going got tough.

All American had an interesting journey for season 6. It appeared to have a near-perfect ending after 13 episodes as Spencer was recruited into the NFL, won the Super Bowl in his rookie season, and proposed to his girlfriend Olivia. However, The CW decided to give the producers an additional three episodes so the season finale ended with Spencer and Olivia getting married.
This ties into how Daniel Ezra has announced his plans to leave the show. Also in the finale, Laura gave the Baker house to Jordan and Layla, Patience decided to embark on her performing career and Coop was choosing what law school to attend.
Thus, we had the perfect sendoff for Spencer’s journey as he can continue his NFL career. This has led to the idea season 7 will be a “soft reboot” of the show and The CW has confirmed it as season 7 will bring the show back to its roots.

“All American” is going to look a bit unfamiliar when it returns for Season 7.
Five more of the show’s cast won’t be returning as regulars when the CW series resumes airing in 2025 — Samantha Logan (Olivia), Cody Christian (Asher), Karimah Westbrook (Grace James), Monét Mazur (Laura Baker) and Chelsea Tavares (Patience) are all out, according to multiple reports.

Is anyone really excited about a shift towards shorter TV episodes? I can already hear the collective groans from the back of the room.
But hear me out on this unless you think the likes of TikTok and YouTube Shorts will never move beyond the personal short-form content to something more akin to a full-fledged series.
Think about this: According to Statista, 35% of people watch TV shows on TikTok. Now, we all know the TikTok format — one-minute shorts that get in and get out in a hurry.
(Courtesy of Apple TV+)
That’s right. A single episode can easily cover 45+ little snippets of drama. Fast twitch eyeballs and a deflated sense of patience drive us into strange new territory.
It’s not hard to see why. The smartphone is like a parasite, latching on and consuming attention spans and warping upper spinal columns into question marks. However, is this truly...

While Kristin Kreuk is most well-known for portraying Lana Lang on Smallville, she’s had quite a varied career since starting acting in 2000.
Kreuk began with teen dramas and classic fairytale films, then moved to sci-fi films and procedural dramas.
No matter the role, she’s a force to be reckoned with and lights up the screen.
(James Dimmock/ Fox)
Since she began acting nearly 25 years ago, Kreuk has gone from acting project to project with little break. She’s become one of Canada’s leading leading ladies and has earned that right in the United States, too.
Kreuk will be starring in Murder in a Small Town beginning Tuesday, September 24.

The Equalizer Season 4 left fans eager to see what would happen to Robyn McCall and Marcus Dante’s relationship.
In the season finale, Dante was offered a promotion to a special task force that would see him relocate to Los Angeles. While this is great news for Dante’s career, it would most likely mean the end of his blossoming romance with our favorite vigilante.
At first, Robyn, in all of her selfless glory, cheers him on and tells him to go. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime — a chance to bring justice to the streets.
(CBS)
Initially, Dante wasn’t so sure. He was thinking about what could be with Robyn. That’s a thought on our minds, too, and we love him even more for feeling the same.
Joining these two in a much-anticipated relationship could improve the show as we root for Robyn to evolve beyond her workaholic tendencies.

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the Season 6 finale of The CW’s All American and the Season 3 premiere of All American: Homecoming.
There are some shakeups happening in the All American universe.
Season 6 of the flagship series ended Monday night with the departure of its star Daniel Ezra, who has led the show as Spencer James for six seasons. With Ezra gone, the show will be taking a new direction that returns to its high school roots, focusing on telling the stories of some newly introduced younger characters.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that the entire original cast is taking a backseat. As the show is making this transition, showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll recognizes “you don’t want to do a clean sweep.”
