Yiran Zhou was born on 29th August 1992 in Shanghai, China. At the age of 20, she moved to England to study and later achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Film and TV at the University of Lincoln, and a Master's Degree in Film Production at the Arts University Bournemouth. The short film Eddie Elise (2016), starring British award-winning transgender actress Rebecca Root, was her MA graduation project.
