It includes an all Afghan cast, Afghan director, and it is based off a true story.
Abeal recently wrapped filming an action heist thriller, Miami Nights, and on set, director Justin Steele said, "Abeal is like one of the nicest bad guys ever." Abeal is a trained actor and has studied a variety of acting techniques including Meisner, Stella Adler, and Improvisation at the Upright Citizens Brigade.
Abeal comes from a family that held high positions in the government of Afghanistan, including ministers, political ambassadors, and war generals. His parents had to flee their home country as refugees during the Soviet-Afghan war, losing everything to the destruction of the Soviet Union and aftermath of the Taliban regime. Growing up, he was apart of the Gifted and Talented Education Program in the Palos Verdes Peninsula School District. Abeal was an athlete; he was the youngest player on his high school varsity soccer team, and he played as a right back/midfielder for Major League Soccer-affiliated Chivas USA Academy and Real Salt Lake Academy. As a teenager, he was invited to join the Afghanistan National Team, the year they won the South Asian Football Federation Championship, and one of Cristiano Ronaldo's consulting agents offered him a professional contract to play soccer in the Middle East. However, his mom forced him to go to college and he graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. In his free time, Abeal enjoys taking hip-hop dance classes, training mixed martial arts, and spending time with his family.
