- Michael Southworth was born outside of Boston to David Southworth, a real estate developer, and Aimee Southworth, a jeweler and designer. He was a football player and avid musician in high school, but he quickly turned his focus to acting after starring in a production of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" at the Noble & Greenough School.
He was then classically trained in acting and film at Cornell University, where he worked on over two dozen plays and films. His film experience began as a student, landing small roles in Patriots Day (2016), Same Kind of Different as Me (2017) and Sweeney Killing Sweeney (2018).
Michael's first lead role in film was as Sgt. John Reese in the Vietnam War epic Love in Country (2023). In 2022, he wrapped shooting on the much anticipated The Long Game (2023), in addition to Lonesome Soldier (2023), which was released in 2023. Michael also wrote The Diamondback, which placed as a Semi-Finalist at the Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting. He then partnered with Thunder Road Films to produce shortly thereafter, with Dennis Quaid set to star in the film.
