Rose Matafeo’s critically acclaimed rom-com series “Starstruck” has been renewed for Season 3, HBO Max and co-producer BBC Three announced.

Matafeo stars in the series as Jessie, an aimless millennial New Zealander living in East London who has a chance encounter with Tom Kapoor (Nikesh Patel), an A-list actor, on New Year’s Eve. The show follows them as they navigate their attraction to each other, which is complicated by Tom’s career, Jessie’s quirky group of friends and their mutual inability to communicate properly. Season 2 of the show ended with the two temporarily breaking up, but after her friends help her realize her tendency to run from relationships when they get serious, Jessie apologizes to Tom and the two reunite.

The second season of Starstruck is coming to HBO Max next week. Starring Rose Matafeo, Nikesh Patel, Emma Sidi, Joe Barnes, Al Roberts, Ambreen Razia, Alice Snedden, Lola-Rose Maxwell, Nic Sampson, Edward Easton, Parth Thakerar, Jordan Stephens, and Minnie Driver, the drama series follows a woman who falls in love with a film star.

Season one ended with Jessie (Matafeo) deciding to stay in London for love instead of heading home to New Zealand. Season two will show what happens next.

Jessie has a good reason for freaking out in the official trailer for Starstuck Season 2, which will release all six episodes on Thursday, March 24 on HBO Max.

In Season 1, the rom-com’s love-struck heroine (played by Rose Matafeo) decided to remain in London to a pursue a relationship with her movie star beau Tom (Nikesh Patel), rather than stick to her original plan of returning home to New Zealand.
