Miguel Angel Mercado Jimenez
- Actor
Miguel Mercado, better known as "ChecheTV," is currently an entertainer, actor, celebrity chef, and entrepreneur, residing in the town of Cayey, Puerto Rico. He began his entertainment career in 2002, but his passion for music and entertainment started much earlier in his youth. He developed a love for sound and narration from a young age. After completing high school, he pursued a Sound Engineering program at CCAT in Bayamon, which allowed him to explore and appreciate the world of cameras and cinema. He started creating content before the rise of popular social media platforms, initially for personal use. For several years, he worked in the urban music scene, collaborating with various artists in sound engineering, production, management, backing vocals, and even singing. However, he found more attention in content creation, initially making short films with drama and comedy elements. His career as a producer behind the scenes began, gaining traction when YouTube emerged in 2005, providing a platform to showcase his content and attract a wider audience. From 2005 to 2011, he gained followers, but it wasn't until 2012 when he began to gain more popularity, notably with the release of a YouTube movie called "Secuestro Justin Bieber." The emergence of Facebook's video upload feature further expanded his reach, garnering over 200,000 followers. In 2015, he participated in the Puerto Rican film "Puertorican Halloween," marking his debut in cinemas. While the movie had limited success, it inspired him to pursue acting more seriously. His goal was to venture into stand-up comedy and then transition into film, but unexpectedly, he found success in cinema first. He eventually performed in various prestigious venues in Puerto Rico as a guest before headlining his own show outside the island in 2016, with over 50 performances. Throughout, he maintained a balance between content creation on his growing social media platforms. In 2019, his new project "La Cocina de ChecheTV" became a massive success, garnering over 1,000,000 followers across different platforms. This fame led him to open his successful restaurant, La Chechonera, in Cayey. In early 2020, he resumed his acting career, starring in several upcoming films such as "El Quinceañero de mi abuela," "Los Foodtruckeros," "Domirriqueños 3," "El Bachatero del Diablo," and "Los Mecanicos." His goals include continuing as an actor and film producer while expanding his brand, La Chechonera.
