Leanette Bailey is an American film, TV, stage, voice actress, singer, writer, and producer from Grand Rapids, MI. Born to a US Marine veteran of Native American descent, and a legal secretary of Irish, German, and English descent. Discovering her voice at an early age when she appeared in various musicals and operas like Kate in The Pirates of Penzance, and Sister Robert Anne in Nunsense II: The Second Coming (2009). Later doing 'Greatest Hits' with traveling Improv troupe Foot'n Ya Mouth! Improv (2023) in a vast repertoire of musical genres.
Her early start was in dance that would prove a prolific history within a vast scope of periods and styles on the stage with Showstoppers Showcase, in The Sound of Music and South Pacific. Accomplishing theater studies at Grand Rapids Community College and Actors Theater.
Building her performance repertoire in a variety of stage roles that would earn her various accolades including "Excellence in Theater" as Kate Keller in The Miracle Worker, and "Outstanding Actress in a Comedic Role" as Robert Anne in Nunsense II (2009). Soon joining the repertory theater group at Master Arts Company; West Michigan's only faith-based theater. While going professional in film, following intensive training at JMC Studios and Fubble Entertainment which prepared her for a first big screen role in A Family Portrait. Earning her a first Best Supporting Actress festival award. Grounding her landmark in additional films, television, and web series. Followed by appearances in regional and local commercials including Family Life Centers, radio and commercial voice-overs, and gaming animations. Then amassed her directorial leadership as co-founder, executive producer and director of You've Got to Be Kidding Me America (2009) award-winning television sketch-comedy. Renowned for its parody-based adaptations of classic TV and films. And touring improvisational actress with The Murder Mystery Company, while appearing in other non-union student and Indie films, and stage roles in lead and supporting roles.
Leanette has enjoyed a lifetime of versatile performances as a non-union actress, singer/performing artist including the noted Dog Story Theater, Grand Rapids Civic, and Compass Film Academy. Turning her attentions lately, to play and song writing, audio book narrations, and the occasional commercial/radio ad. Doing screen roles as opportunity presents.
