NBC has announced when the new drama Grosse Pointe Garden Society will premiere, but does it have the right time slot?
NBC is wrapping up its 2024 slate by announcing when shows will be returning in winter 2025. That includes the new drama Grosse Pointe Garden Society. It comes from Jenna Bans and Will Krebs, the creators of the underrated but popular crime dramedy Good Girls. It refers to the ladies of a local garden club who “find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief and murder.”
The show is set to debut Sunday, Feb. 23, at 10/9c on NBC. That seems a good place on the surface, but is it really that good a spot for this series?
Why Grosse Pointe Garden Society may have a bad time slot

On Friday, NBC officially handed series orders to “Suits L.A.” and “Grosse Pointe Garden Society,” two of the highest-profile dramas it had in development.

The network already has dramas “Brilliant Minds” and “The Hunting Party,” as well as comedies “St. Denis Medical and “Happy’s Place” set to air next season.
Starring Stephen Amell, Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis and Bryan Greenberg, “Suits L.A.” follows Ted Black (Amell), a former federal prosecutor from New York, who has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His firm is at a crisis point, and to survive, he must embrace a role he held in contempt for his entire career. NBC has picked up its two outstanding pilots to series, the hourlong Suits: L.A., starring Stephen Amell, and Grosse Pointe Garden Society. However, it has not been determined yet whether any of them will premiere during the 2024-25 seasons.
NBC already has two new drama and two new comedy series set for next season, dramas Brilliant Minds and The Hunting Party which, like Grosse Pointe Garden Society, originated as a writers room commission in February 2023, as well as comedies St. Denis Medical and the Reba McEntire-led Happy’s Place.
Along with the pickups, NBC has released first-look images for Suits: L.A. and Grosse Pointe Garden Society. You can see them below.
As Deadline reported last month, both pilots had come in solid and looking good for an order.
With a globally recognizable title thanks to Suits‘ recent Netflix success, offshoot Suits: L.A. had been considered a strong proposition from the moment it was announced.

The world of Suits is officially getting larger.
NBC has given a series order to Suits: LA, a spinoff of/companion show to the former USA Network series-turned-streaming juggernaut. The network has also picked up Grosse Pointe Garden Society, a murder mystery from the team behind Good Girls.
NBC hasn’t scheduled either show yet, but it’s conceivable they could be ready for the second half of the 2024-25 season. Crime drama The Hunting Party is currently the only midseason scripted series on tap for the network.
Like its predecessor, Suits: LA comes from creator Aaron Korsh. After Suits became a massive streaming hit last year, Korsh and Universal Studio Group’s UCP, which produced the original series, began developing a second show set in the same world — though not featuring any characters (at least at the outset) from the New York-set Suits. NBC ordered a pilot for the show in February,...

"You run out on every guy you've ever been with!" Decal Releasing has unveiled the trailer for a romantic comedy called Which Brings Me To You, arriving in theaters in January 2024 next month. It's from the same filmmaker who previously made the romcoms Then Came You and The Hating Game, and this one will probably be just like those two. Lucy Hale and Nat Wolff star in this hilarious tale of love and disaster. Two romantic burnouts meet at a wedding and almost hook up in the coatroom before putting the brakes on. They agree to exchange candid confessions about their pasts on the off chance that this might be the real thing. "Trading candid confessions of messy histories and heartbreak" - revisiting their own "past lives" on screen. The film's supporting cast includes John Gallagher Jr., Ward Horton, Genevieve Angelson, Alexander Hodge, Britne Oldford, Marceline Hugot, and Laura Kai Chen.

“Are you horny?” asks Lolo (Sherry Cola) in the second red-band trailer for “Joy Ride,” which Lionsgate released on Thursday, before proceeding to talk about d–ks and how much she loves the sounds of sex.
In the raunchy comedy, which is directed by “Crazy Rich Asians” co-screenwriter Adele Lim, stars Ashley Park of “Beef” as Audrey, whose visit to China to find her birth mother becomes a crazy, drug- and alcohol-fueled road trip with her friends.
Audrey’s efforts to impress Chinese men fail when she admits, “I’m just a garbage American who only speaks English. And a little Gollum,” as she launches into the “Lord of the Rings” character’s “my precious” speech.

Everything Everywhere All at Once star Stephanie Hsu, Sherry Cola and their girlfriends gets pretty raunchy in the latest trailer for Adele Lim’s shock friendship comedy Joy Ride, which is R-rated and set for a July 7 theatrical release.
“Sex isn’t shameful. It’s beautiful. Like the noises,” Cola, who plays Lolo, tells a young man at one point in the trailer, where she then uses a hand slap and slurping and gagging sounds to mimic the sex act. The Joy Ride teaser centers on four unlikely friends joining Audrey (Ashley Park) on a business trip to Asia that quickly goes sideways.

"Let's just be adults!" Lionsgate has dropped in another brand new raunchy red band trailer for the summer comedy Joy Ride, opening in theaters everywhere in early July. This earned rave reviews at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. From the producers of Neighbors, and the co-screenwriter from Crazy Rich Asians and Raya and the Last Dragon, Joy Ride stars Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu. The film follows four Asian-American women as they bond and discover the truth of what it means to know and love who you are, while they travel through Asia in search of one of their birth mothers. The cast also includes Ronny Chieng, Desmond Chiam, Alexander Hodge, and Chris Pang. This looks as all out ridiculous and depraved and hilarious as it should! Don't miss the comedy everyone is saying is the funniest of the year so far.

Wellmania is a series created by Benjamin Law, starring Celeste Barber. It is based on a novel by Brigid Delaney.
Wellmania is a fun Australian comedy about health based on the novel by Brigid Delaney in which health is the most important thing, but seen through the eyes of a girl who has not thought about her health once in her life and who, upon discovering this new world, is like some of us when we see a bicycle and ask ourselves: and what’s this supposed to do?
Wellmania About the Series
A nice comedy in the Australian style, starring a great Celeste Barber who is given one of those “roles of her life” and who knows how to take advantage of it with wit and style.
As for the series: it has the restrained wit of intelligent humor, very literary, the smooth pace of a novel, and well-profiled characters that,...

How could a trip to the motherland go so hilariously, disastrously wrong? The quartet at the heart of Adele Lim’s “Joy Ride” – Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu and Sabrina Wu – have no idea what they’re in for at the top of the trailer, which Lionsgate released Friday ahead of the film’s premiere at SXSW.

Lolo punches a white boy in the throat after he calls Audrey a racist slur, sealing the deal on their lifelong friendship. Flash forward to the future and Audrey is preparing to visit China to find her birth parents, with Lolo as her translator. Black Lightning‘s Jordan Calloway broke the news to his fans that his Painkiller spinoff will not be moving forward at The CW as it defines its 2021 fall schedule. Shorty after The CW revealed what is and isn’t in the works, Calloway spoke fans and followers via Instagram TV.
“Painkiller will not be going forward, so let’s rip that band-aid off now,” he said.
In addition to the Black Lightning spinoff, nun dramedy Our Ladies of Brooklyn will not move forward at The CW.
The spinoff would have seen Calloway reprise his role as the titular character while Black Lightning showrunner Salim Akil will write, exec produce and direct. Set to join the cast were Sibongile Mlambo, Alexander Hodge and James Roch. The planted pilot spinoff aired as the seventh episode of Black Lightning’s fourth season.

Alexander Hodge will guest star in ABC’s drama pilot “Epic,” hailing from “Once Upon a Time” creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis. The actor joins previously announced lead cast members Eleanor Fanyinka and Brittany O’Grady in the ABC Signature production.
“Epic” is described as a romantic anthology series that reinvents fairytales for a new audience. O’Grady will play Luna, who is a fairytale princess made cynical by a broken heart. She doesn’t believe in love stories, which is unfortunate because she is about to find herself caught in the most epic one of all — her own. Fanyinka will play The Seer, a mysterious and playful figure who can lead you down the path of true love. ABC did not provide a character description for Hodge.
Most recently, Hodge was seen as Andrew on the fourth season of the critically acclaimed Issa Rae series “Insecure” on HBO, and...

This Black Lightning article contains spoilers for Season 4, Episode 7.
This is the final season of Black Lightning, which means the end of Jefferson Pierce’s story. But Jefferson has never been the sole focus of the show… Black Lightning has introduced us to many complex characters whose personal journeys have kept us tuned in week after week. Over the three previous seasons, we’ve watched both Anissa and Jennifer Pierce begin to master their meta abilities and step into their power as protectors of Freeland, alongside their dad. Black Lightning, Thunder, and Lightning have come a long way, but they haven’t been alone on their journeys into heroism. From Lynn and Gambi, to Khalil and Grace, the Pierce family has always been surrounded by loved ones whose proximity to the heroes meant joining the fight themselves. “Painkiller,” a backdoor pilot for a proposed spinoff centering Khalil (Jordan Calloway) demonstrates...

Jordan Calloway describes himself as both a comic book nerd and an action-flick aficionado. So, to say that he was born to play Black Lightning‘s Painkiller is an understatement.
Calloway will reprise his dual roles tonight at 9/8c on The CW, in a highly anticipated backdoor pilot for a potential Painkiller spinoff. As he did in the original series, he’ll play both Khalil and Painkiller — and try to do the right thing as both personalities fight for dominance within. Creator and executive producer Salim Akil penned the episode, which also includes an appearance from Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and...
