Are you ready for Jigsaw?
It is, in essence, the eighth entry into Lionsgate’s time-honored Saw franchise, one that’s coming by way of directing duo Michael and Peter Spierig. Best known for their work on Daybreakers, the Spierig siblings are still relatively new when it comes to Hollywood’s horror scene, but when asked to describe how they approached the cult series, Michael Spierig hinted that Jigsaw is “Saw for 2017.” That means it’s safe to expect more nightmare fuel and wildly inventive demented traps than you can shake a pig’s mask at, and though Lionsgate’s franchise has fallen by the wayside in recent years, in 2017, Halloween belongs to Jigsaw. And long may he reign.
Mind you, given that Tobin Bell’s sick, twisted psychopath bit the bullet in Saw III, it looks certain that John Kramer has gathered together a band of disciples to continue...

After taking a lengthy – and much needed – hiatus from cinemas, the Saw franchise is finally ready to once again shed gallons of blood with its latest installment, Jigsaw. But despite featuring a returning Tobin Bell who’s set to reprise the role of John Kramer in some capacity, all signs point toward a copycat at play.
Who that may be remains unknown, of course, but it’s important to note that neither Costas Mandylor nor Cary Elwes are set to feature here, so either there’s a new player in town after all, or this series is about to take an unexpected supernatural turn. Regardless, we can’t wait to see what the final twist will be and now, with the film set to arrive later this month, Lionsgate has begun to ramp up the promotion.

By the time horror franchises reach their eighth instalment, they’ve usually gone to some pretty weird places. An outing set in space is par for the course, as is an unlikely trip to New York. If you’re lucky, you might even get a bizarre metatextual fourth wall buster (Hi, Wes Craven’s New Nightmare).
The now-venerable Saw franchise, perhaps sensing that there are diminishing returns in the usual torture escapades, has opted for a soft reboot. And so, Saw VIII has been concisely rechristened Jigsaw after its notoriously sadistic villain. Word is that the world of Saw is now facing up to the existence of a full-blown Jigsaw cult and a new set of posters give us a peek at what’s to come.

“Become Jigsaw.”
Fueling rumors that Michael and Peter Spierig’s upcoming horror sequel focuses on John Kramer’s twisted disciples, and not the man himself, yesterday Lionsgate rolled out a slew of stark one-sheets for Jigsaw and, well, let’s just say they weren’t your average character posters. Rather than placing the spotlight on the film’s ensemble cast, each portrait featured a loyal follower of Kramer’s, replete with blood-drenched pig mask to drive the point home: these protégés intend to bring about a new reign of terror, and in the fallout of Jigsaw‘s first teaser trailer, horror fans are already reeling at the wild traps in store.

The official Jigsaw trailer was revealed at San Diego Comic-con. Jigsaw is the eighth film in the Saw franchise and will release just in time for Halloween.
Not a lot aside from the teaser posters and trailer have been made available for fans, but it has been confirmed that Tobin Bell will appear in some capacity.
The cast also includes Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez.
Jigsaw was written by Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger (Piranha 3D and Sorority Row). Directed by the Spierig brothers, Peter and Michael, who directed Daybreakers and Predestination.
In the trailer, the detectives reveal that Jigsaw’s DNA was discovered under a victim’s fingernails, which obviously stumps them since "The Saw killer" has been dead for ten years now. However, this...

Remember when Jigsaw co-director Michael Spierig (Daybreakers) promised some “pretty wild traps” ahead of October’s Saw sequel?
Well, thanks to the film’s blood-curdling first trailer, we now have an idea of the horrors in store, and it seems as though the twisted legacy of John Kramer has taken on a new form. Tobin Bell’s demented serial killer actually bit the bullet during Saw III in 2006, so Michael and Peter Spierig have been quick to play down talk of Bell returning – either via flashback or some form of unexpected appearance. That doesn’t necessarily mean that a cameo is completely out of the question though – the film is called Jigsaw, after all – particularly when you consider the fact that John Kramer’s voice can be heard in today’s first-look teaser. “The truth will set you free.”
From there, the nightmare-inducing footage cuts to some form of containment...

The title for the eighth outing in the Saw franchise has finally been revealed as Jigsaw, which sees Lionsgate dropping the production of Saw: Legacy.
It had been revealed years ago by the franchise creators, James Wan and Leigh Whannell that in fact, the original title was Jigsaw, does this mean that the franchise is paying homage to its roots? Well, according to the Lionsgate synopsis we can expect to see bodies turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?
Directed by Peter and Michael Spierig, the cast for the eighth film in the franchise includes Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez. The original Jigsaw, Tobin Bell is said to be returning to the series but in what capacity hasn’t been made clear at this point.
In his signature black and red robes, Jigsaw was a former civil engineer dying from an inoperable frontal lobe tumour that had developed from colon cancer. After a failed suicide attempt, Kramer found a new appreciation for his life and decided to dedicate the rest of his life to inspiring the same appreciation in others by testing their will to live.
His methods include forcing his subjects through deadly scenarios, which he referred to as “games” or “tests”, in which they were forced to inflict pain upon themselves or others in order to escape. These tests were typically symbolic of what Jigsaw perceived as a flaw in each person’s moral character or life. The Jigsaw name was given to him by the media for his practice of cutting a puzzle piece shape of flesh from those who fail.

Saw: Legacy has been given a facelift.
The eighth installment in Lionsgate’s time-honored horror franchise will release as Jigsaw on October 27th, 2017, signaling that John Kramer’s unspeakable reign of terror isn’t over yet. Tobin Bell’s demented serial killer actually bit the bullet during Saw III in 2006, and has since appeared in subsequent sequels via flashback. However, it would appear that Bell’s time in the Saw franchise is far from over, after the actor took to Twitter back in May to tease the seemingly inevitable return of The Jigsaw Killer.
Directed by franchise newcomers Michael and Peter Spierig (Daybreakers) from a script by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg (Piranha 3D), the prequel-sequel formerly known as Saw: Legacy will feature a cast comprised of Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert and James Gomez.
Exactly how Tobin Bell fits into that ensemble – if at all – is up for question. The official logline for Jigsaw points to a Kramer resurgence though, one that will either stem from the man himself or some form of disciple eager to continue the legacy for a new generation. Yikes!
Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?
It’s official: the eighth Saw film will launch into theatres on October 27th bearing the title Jigsaw. It’s currently been set opposite Cloverfield 3, a starry sci-fi pic that has been secretly masquerading as God Particle ever since Julius Onah’s thriller was shoehorned into Paramount and Bad Robot’s interconnected universe.

Regardless of whether you consider yourself to be a self-confessed scaredy-cat or a hardened expert of the genre, John Kramer is a name that ought to strike fear into the hearts of moviegoers.
After seven feature films in the Saw franchise, the demented serial killer has gone on to become one of cinema’s greatest architects of fear, subjecting his victims to a series of grotesque experiments each more horrifying than the last. His mission? To push his hapless test subjects to the absolute brink and, ultimately, examine their will to live. The fact that Kramer is nursing an inoperable brain tumor adds an extra layer of intrigue to his nightmare-inducing acts, and the upcoming Saw: Legacy is poised to delve a little deeper into what makes (or should that be made?) John Kramer tick.
But it seems Lionsgate employed the rather uninspired Saw: Legacy as something of a placeholder,...

Remember that time when the seventh Saw film was supposed to be “The Final Chapter?” Lionsgate was full of shit. They are currently developing an eighth film in the horror franchise called Saw: Legacy. Thanks to Bloody-Disgusting we have the first plot details for the next chapter in the franchise and we also know that Tobin Bell will be returning to the franchise.
The point of Saw: Legacy is apparently to breathe new life into the franchise so that they can keep it going and make even more movies. Here’s the story description:
