After more than a decade of following catfish stories, Catfish: The TV Show host Nev Schulman admits he continues to be shocked – and the latest season on MTV is a whopper.
Schulman brought catfishing to the mainstream via his 2010 documentary when he was catfished by a woman in Michigan. Realizing this phenomenon wasn’t unique to his situation, Schulman launched his series to help others who suspect they’ve been deceived.
Schulman said since he was catfished, the Internet has grown and provided a vast breeding ground for endless deception. “With the Internet now serving as this incredible multiplier of human interaction by pairing people with each other whom never, ever should or would have met otherwise,” Schulman told Showbiz Cheat Sheet. “You get an infinite number of interactions which many, lead to better or worse catfish situations.”

The ensemble cast of Netflix's Bird Box is really quite something, isn't it? Between superstar Sandra Bullock battling against the apocalypse and John Malkovich doing . . . well, whatever it is he's doing in that movie, there's a lot of people to keep track of. Even Machine Gun Kelly is in there! And Get Out's Lil Rel Howery! And Catfish host Nev Schulman!
Wait . . . huh?
Yes, Nev "Reverse Google Image Search" Schulman actually has a hard-to-spot cameo alongside his wife, Laura Perlongo, in the horror film. As it turns out, they're two of the figures featured in the painting Bullock's character, Malorie, is working on at the start of the film when her sister (Sarah Paulson) stops by to drop off groceries.
"#BirdBox was scary and all, but the creepiest part is how much the couple in Sandra Bullock's painting looks like me and Laura..." he joked on Twitter, before adding that their cameo is purposeful.

“Bird Box,” Netflix’s word-of-mouth streaming hit directed by Susanne Bier and starring Sandra Bullock, has nothing to with MTV’s long-running series “Catfish,” and yet there exists a strange link between the two properties. For some reason, “Catfish” host Nev Schulman is depicted in the painting viewers see Sandra Bullock’s character working on at the beginning of the movie.
Based on the novel of the same name by author Josh Malerman, “Bird Box” centers around a group of characters trying to evade unseen monsters who force those who look at them to commit suicide. Prior to the monsters first showing up, Bier and screenwriter Eric Heisserer introduce Bullock’s character, Malorie, as a painter whose apartment is full of works of art.
Malorie’s latest painting is a riff on Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, depicting pregnant Malorie at the center of a table surrounded by other people.

Leave it to Nev Schulman and Laura Perlongo to turn the MTV VMAs into a maternity shoot . . . again. The couple, who are expecting their second child, showed sweet Pda as they walked the magenta carpet at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. As Laura proudly showed off her tiny baby bump in a midriff-baring top and red jumpsuit, the Catfish star playfully rubbed her belly. This certainly isn't the first time the two looked like proud parents-to-be on the red carpet. At the VMAs in 2016, Laura showed off her bare baby bump for the cameras by wearing a completely unzipped jacket and black pants. See more pictures from their latest appearance ahead.

The Chainsmokers played a rare, semi-private, hometown L.A. show this week as a partnership with Pepsi, celebrating the brand’s history with pop music. The set nodded at Michael Jackson and Britney Spears, but it got the Party Report thinking bigger…
This was the marquee at the Palladium in Hollywood. Where else do we see this kind of billing?
…At the Super Bowl Halftime show, sponsored for the last several years by Pepsi. Could the guys behind “Closer,” “Paris,” “Somthing Just Like This,” and “Roses” be headed that way?
Before you say “no way, not big enough,” this prominent show (with a Sunset Blvd. mural) was billed as a concert with “Special Guests”. The surprises turned out to be Kehlani and up-and-comer Max. The NFL has done a halftime-by-committee a few times in recent years. If they do it again, these could be the guys to anchor it from the DJ booth.

Yaniv “Nev” Schulman, host of the MTV series “Catfish,” is the latest Hollywood figure to face accusations of sexual misconduct, and the network has suspended filming on the popular reality series to perform an investigation.

This year’s MTV VMAs show was full of political messages. And wasn’t just what you saw on TV — it started on the red carpet.
First, Catfish host Nev Schulman chose to wear a yellow Star of David patch on his blazer — a reference to the yellow stars Jews across Germany and Nazi-occupied Europe were forced to wear to signify their faith — as a statement against the growing neo-Nazi and white nationalism movement.
This comes just several days after Billy Joel did the same thing, donning yellow Star of David patches on his label and back during a performance at N.

Last year, Nev Schulman and his wife, Laura Perlongo, turned the MTV Video Music Awards into a maternity photo shoot before the arrival of their baby, and this year, the couple decided to make another strong impression on the red carpet by publicly standing against white supremacy and neo-Nazi individuals. Nev donned a yellow Star of David pinned to his jacket in support of Jewish people, while his wife also wore a red heart pinned to her top. The yellow pin is a strong statement, which Billy Joel similarly wore at a recent New York City concert, as it's the symbol Jews were required to wear to identify themselves religiously during World Word II. But Nev was not alone. His Catfish costar appeared on the red carpet wearing a blue shirt with "Jew" emblazoned across the center. Nev Schulman has never been one to keep things low-key, so you better believe that he went all out for his wedding weekend. The Catfish star married his longtime girlfriend, Laura Perlongo, in the Hamptons on July 22, and the nuptials were anything but traditional. After tying the knot in his father's backyard, the couple ditched a formal wedding reception and instead had everyone change into their bathing suits for some fun in the water . . . and had fun they did. In addition to riding the waves on an inflatable swan, Nev and Laura had an intense makeout session in the sand as the water washed over them. And the best, er, worst part? It was in full view of everyone. Laura also rocked a white bikini complete with a blue garter. The pair's wedding isn't the first time they've turned heads. Back in 2016, they made practically everyone's jaws hit the floor...
