Imane Anys, better known as Pokimane, is a live-stream gaming broadcaster on Twitch. She is a member of OfflineTV, an online social entertainment group of internet content creators.
Imane was born on May 14, 1996, in Morocco. She spent her early childhood years in Canada, where she learned to speak French and English. As such, she has dual citizenship in both countries. She graduated from high school in 2005 and subsequently attended McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario Canada, where she pursued a degree in Chemical Engineering. She began streaming on the gaming content platform, Twitch, in 2013, and eventually dropped out of school to pursue this career, full-time. Thereafter, she amassed a large number of followers and subscribers, focusing on League of Legends, culminating into a 2017 Shorty Award as the "Best Twitch Streamer of the Year." In 2018, she was selected as 1 of 15 individuals selected as Twitch Ambassadors for the annual TwitchCon event. She was also made a partner for their Twitch Creator Camp, a series of broadcasts and articles designed to assist content creators establish successful channels. In 2019, it was announced that she and and a number of other internet personalities were selected to appear in the film, Free Guy, which is to be released in May 2021. In 2020, Imane signed a multi-year exclusive deal with Twitch. In 2021, she was named one of Forbes 30 Under 30, under the "Games" category. She further joined Cloak, a fashion brand developed by Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, as both partner and creative director. Pokimane continues to be a prolific streamer and content creator, now with over 6.54 million YouTube subscribers, as well as 7.59 million followers and 168.5 million viewers on Twitch.
