Known for NBC's Chicago MED, Chicago P.D. and FOX's A.P.B. , Brian Arkamian Nelson Jr. was born on July 10, 1990 in Chicago, IL. and spent the later half of elementary school and high school in Aurora Illinois, His second home town. He is the eldest of 5 siblings. He is the son of Jerronda Mayfield and Brian Nelson Sr.. His middle name, Arkamian, means "strong warrior".
Brian graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with his degree in Political Science. While there, he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated and served as the Undergraduate Student Body President.
He slid onto the theater scene by singing soulful tunes at the Black Ensemble Theater on Chicago's north-side. From there, he has able to acquire work in musicals and plays all over the city, and has worked regionally at theaters such as Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Paramount Theatre and Court Theatre.
In 2018, Brian spent the summer studying acting at Oxford University with the British American Drama Academy.
