Maya Bachowski
- Actress
Maya Bachowski is an Israeli actress born and raised in the city of Haifa in northern Israel. She is best known for her leading role in the series "My Sister Skipped a Grade," a 3-time Best Comedy Series nominee at the Israeli Television Academy Awards. An avid dancer starting in the 4th grade, she started acting in the 7th grade as a drama major and joined the Haifa theater's youth drama group shortly thereafter. At the age of sixteen she began performing at open mics in the city's bars, and soon became a regular despite her young age. She was also the vocalist in the duo Boombox M.A.I.D until the group split up at age 18 for mandatory army enlistment.
Bachowski spent two years in the army as a combat medic and an instructor of field medical procedures for paramedics and doctors. Because of her proficiency in this role, she briefly considered pursuing a medical career after completing her service, but ultimately decided to keep pursuing her first love of performance. A year after returning from military service, she began what would ultimately be a three-year program of study at Yoram Loewenstein's Performing Arts Studio. While still in her senior year, she then joined the Beit Lessin national theater in Tel Aviv.
In addition to her work on "My Sister Skipped a Grade," Bachowski has appeared in the adventure-drama series "Our Treasure" and the sitcom "Ha-Shualim." She has held major roles in music videos, commercials and numerous dramas such as "Negligee," a Best Short nominee at the Tel Aviv LGBT Festival.
