Jana has been acting, writing, producing and directing since she was a young child on Molokai, producing her first play in the 2nd grade at the age of 8. Over the last three decades she's written and produced several plays, produced over a dozen award-winning short films, and served in Producer roles on multiple feature films, including Google/Array $650,000-Grant Winner Moloka'i Bound (currently in post-production), My Partner (featuring 'Olelo Hawai'i, Tagalog, English - Winner: Grand Jury Award Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival, Audience Favorite Feature L.A. Asian Pacific Film Festival), and the quirky comedy Tales of the Circle Keys - all made by Hawai'i-based indie crews and starring diverse Pacific Islander casts. She is currently the Hawai'i Field Producer for Rise of the Electric Car, the 3rd feature film in the Who Killed the Electric Car documentary trilogy and Producer of the short film Voyager Daughter, starring Kaipo Dudoit and scheduled to begin production in March 2024.
Dedicated to giving back to her community, Jana has volunteered at filmmaking and educational organizations for over two decades, including over eight years at Hawai'i Filmmakers Collective. Initially serving as a Board Member and Events Director, she accepted the role of Executive Director in January of 2022. Through the film challenges and pitch meetings she's organized/overseen, over 120 Hawai'i-based short films have been made, many of which have gone on to screen as Official Selections in international film festivals.
Jana holds a B.A. in Political Science (Minor/Women's Studies) from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and an A.A. in American Sign Language Interpreting from Los Angeles Pierce College.
