Valeria Sochyvets

In 2015, Director and Producer Valeria Sochyvets founded an organization CUC (Contemporary Ukrainian Cinema) with the goal to promote Ukrainian cinema and produce films. Valeria produced a number of films that took part in many international film festivals, such as POFF Shorts, Clermont-Ferrand, Tampere, Molodist, Odesa IFF, and won over 30 awards and nominations. A participant of international pitches and coproduction markets. As a curator, Valeria shaped the film program for Gogolfest from 2013 to 2017. She also curated for festivals Intermezzo and Porto Franko and in 2019 founded a festival for young filmmakers Kinoohlyad. In 2020, she was part of an expert board at a national competition for debut short film projects at the Ukrainian State Film Agency. From 2018 to 2022 a Board Member of Ukrainian Film Academy. In 2017, Valeria was a jury member at the Open Night All-Ukrainian Film Festival. Her portfolio counts 13 short films, 2 feature documentaries and 1 feature fiction. Valeria is currently developing 2 debut fiction feature films by Philip Sotnychenko and Stanislav Bytiutskyi. She holds a BA from Karpenko Karyi Kyiv National University of Theater, Film and TV.
