- Sarah Batista launched Stories to Inspire, a film production company, in August 2013. Stories to Inspire is a team of passionate journalists and videographers who work to inspire change by capturing impactful stories on film and video. We specifically focus on telling the stories of nonprofits to inspire change, action and giving.
Prior to launching Stories to Inspire, Sarah spent 7 years as a reporter/anchor for WBTV in Charlotte. She joined WBTV after working in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she reported for CBS19 and ABC16 for 2 years. She had the rare opportunity to help launch both television stations and learn from the ground up.
While in Charlottesville, Sarah interviewed numerous celebrities and politicians, and reported on corruption in the Albemarle County Police Department. Prior to working in Charlottesville, Sarah worked as a writer for NBC News Channel in Charlotte. Sarah's position as a General Assignment Reporter allowed her to report on an array of stories related to crime, politics, trials, government and human interest.
In 2015, Sarah founded the "She Flew the Coop" movement to inspire and empower women to get out of their comfort zone and pursue their dream or purpose. The movement includes educational workshops, panel discussions, a meetup group and an original "She Flew the Coop" song on iTunes and various other projects. The documentary is still in production, and is set to release in 2018.
In 2016, Sarah also made her acting debut in Toronto, Canada playing the roll of Jill "the other woman" in the play "Lord, Why do I keep choosing the wrong man".
Education: Sarah graduated from South Mecklenburg High School before attending UNC Charlotte where she earned a bachelor's degree in Communications with a minor in Journalism. She currently serves on the advisory board for UNC Charlotte's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Sarah also serves as a board member for Communities in Schools, an organization that focuses on high school drop-out prevention. Sarah is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
Hobbies: Sarah enjoys reading, traveling, spending time with family and friends, shopping, watching musicals, volunteering and mentoring teenagers in the community. She is the mom to her awesome teenaged son Gregory.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Sarah Batista
