Casper Balslev is a Danish director, known for directing
narrative, commercials and music videos.
Balslev's short films for fashion brand Han Kjøbenhavn have been awarded and selected for the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase at Cannes Lions in June 2013. The same year he won Gold at Eurobest for best commercial direction.
Balslev grew up in the Northern part of Denmark and his visual interest was set in motion at an early age by his father, a specialist airborne photographer. Prior to pursuing directing, Balslev studied photojournalism at the Danish College of Journalism, and worked in the field of documentary and street photography.
His 2007-08 photographic essay about Hollywood, shot with a small pocket camera, was exhibited at various galleries and festivals. Balslev's large format images taken in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, were selected by the National Gallery Copenhagen for its annual exhibition "Young Danish Photography".
He is represented for commercials by RSA Films ( Ridley Scott Associates ), and music videos by Black Dog Films.
