Marc Bernardin, a television writer/producer (Star Trek: Picard) who has also written multiple comic books and hosts the Fatman Beyond podcast with Kevin Smith, has teamed up with writer/producer/actress Tiffany Smith (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) to create a new anthology called Deepest, Darkest, which will “weave together stories of horror, suspense, dark comedy, and edgy science fiction” – and they have assembled quite an impressive cast for the project. The new horror and science fiction anthology, “Deepest, Darkest,” has added yet another cast mate to its already stellar lineup of genre heavyweights.

Rahul Kohli, a beloved member of Mike Flanagan’s Flanaverse and essential teammate in the crime-solving “iZombie” series, has officially joined the star-studded cast of “Deepest, Darkest,” a new horror anthology from writer and director Marc Bernardin and actor Tiffany Smith.

“‘Deepest Darkest’ is an exciting project combining all my favorite genres and my favorite people. Joining this project was a no-brainer for me,” says Kohli, expressing his enthusiasm early in the process to Variety.

Kohli joins the previously announced cast of Smith (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”), Rosario Dawson, Ernie Hudson (“Ghostbusters”), Yetide Badaki (“American Gods”), Phil Lamarr and “Quantum Leap” stars Raymond Lee and Caitlin Bassett.

Writer-producer Marc Bernardin is returning to directing with Deepest, Darkest. He is leading a geekfest of a creators of color making a horror anthology around the theme of keeping secrets.

Ghostbusters icon Ernie Hudson, Phil Lamarr (Futurama), American Gods’ Yetide Badaki, Quantum Leap star Raymond Lee and co-star Caitlin Bassett, among others, will star in the genre showcase, which is launching a crowdfunding campaign Aug. 27.

The WGA Award winner and Eisner-nominated Bernardin created the project with actress Tiffany Smith, who appeared in his directorial debut Splinter. That film also launched on Kickstarter and went on to become a hit on the festival circuit, gathering up several awards.

Back in 1989, the original Quantum Leap sci-fi series was one of the more popular shows on TV. Created by Donald P. Bellisario, the series consisted of a total of 97 episodes spread through five seasons. The original show starred Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell. Bellisario revived the show in 2022, setting it 30 years after the end of the original series. The series ran for two seasons (31 episodes in total) on NBC, and we are sad to report that the series has now been canceled after two seasons on NBC.

This news doesn’t really come as a major shocker to anyone, as the series had been on the bubble ever since its two-hour season finale that aired on February 20, 2024. In contrast to this, the series had been renewed for a second season in December 2022, while the season was still being broadcast.

After receiving notice of the show’s cancellation, Lee, 37, and Bassett, 34, took to Instagram to share their emotions regarding the show’s end. “Just wanted to say a thank you to our Ql fans and those who’ve tuned in,” Lee wrote on Instagram. “Your support was felt and always warmly received. NBC decided today not to proceed with the third season of its Quantum Leap reboot. The news arrived more than a month after the two-hour Season 2 finale aired Feb. 20.

The new version of Quantum Leap was set in the present day. It’s been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. A new team was assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.

“Quantum Leap” has been canceled at NBC after two seasons, Variety has confirmed.

The show served as a followup to the 1989 show of the same name starring Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell. The revamped version starred Raymond Lee as physicist Dr. Ben Song, whose attempt to restart the Quantum Leap project pioneered by Dr. Sam Beckett leads to him being trapped in different people’s lives in the past just like Beckett. As he seeks to put right what once went wrong in those lives, he “leaps” to different lives while hoping that each leap will be the leap home.

The cast of the series also included Caitlin Bassett, Ernie Hudson, Mason Alexander Park, and Nanrisa Lee. Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt developed the series and served as executive producers alongside Martin Gero via Quinn’s House, Dean Georgaris, Deborah Pratt, Chris Grismer, and Alex Berger. Universal Television was the studio.

That doesn’t mean that Leapers like Sam (Scott Bakula) and Ben (Raymond Lee) can just change anything they want however. When Leapers are given their missions they’re often small, helping individual lives instead of making changes on a global scale. Why? Why can’t a Leaper, who’s supposed to make the world better, change bigger parts of the fate of history?

There are only a few episodes of Quantum Leap Season 2 left—the two-hour finale airs February 20 at 9/8c on NBC—and after a tease star Caitlin Bassett gave TV Insider about how it ends, we already know we’re going to need it to be renewed. Ben leaps back to the ’50s and into a treasure hunter on NBC’s Quantum Leap season two episode 10. “The Family Treasure” airs on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 10pm Et/Pt.

Quantum Leap has a return date. The NBC series will resume its second season later this month and is taking over the timeslot currently held by Found on Tuesday nights.

Found, which has already been renewed for a second season, wraps its first season this week. Quantum Leap has yet to be cancelled or renewed for a third season.

We have a return date for NBC drama series Quantum Leap. Season 2B will premiere Tuesday, January 30 at 10 pm, moving from its previous Wednesday slot. It takes over the spot left by Found which wraps its first season on January 16.

The remaining five episodes of the 13-episode Season 2 will conclude with a two-hour season finale on February 20 from 9-11 pm. All episodes will stream next day on Peacock.

Quantum Leap ranks as a top 5 drama this season in the 18-49 demo (L+7) and is drawing 4.9 million viewers across all platforms (L+35).

NBC’s follow-up series to Quantum Leap, which aired on NBC from 1989-93, is set in present day. It’s been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to find out more about how the team can possibly get Ben (Raymond Lee) home. Quantum Leap Season 2 will resume on Tuesday, January 30 at 10/9c on NBC. The two-hour finale is set for February 20, starting at 9/8c. All episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock. When Quantum Leap left off with the eighth episode in December, Ben had reconnected with Hannah (Eliza Taylor), whom he’d seen on multiple leaps and knew who he was, and shared as romantic a time as they could have. In the episode, titled “Nomads,” Tom (played by Peter Gadiot) came back from his impromptu trip to Washington, D.C., with a giant file that he said contained a “way to bring Ben home.” The intel was recovered from a fragment of a hard drive from the discontinued Darpa project.
