Daniel Sosa Porter
- Actor
Daniel Sosa-Porter is a Chicano actor of Mexican-American descent. Born in La Paz, Baja California to an American mother and Mexican-Arabic father, Sosa-Porter moved to the United States around the age of 3 when his parents separated. Growing up, he spent much of his childhood bouncing around the continental United States before primarily residing in the American Southwest. Sosa-Porter's formative years were spent living in Southern California and considers San Diego to be his hometown (specifically the region of National City).
Raised as an only child, Sosa-Porter spent much of his time reading, writing stories, and occupying worlds of his vivid imagination to combat boredom and loneliness. His first foray into acting began in his junior year of high school during theater class. After suffering a head injury playing sports in his senior year, Sosa-Porter pivoted and found himself cast in his high school's first musical theatre production in 22 years. This experience would go on to fundamentally alter the trajectory of his life.
Sosa-Porter would continue his education at San Diego City College, acquiring degrees in Theatre and Musical Theatre before transferring to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from USC in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, right at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, Sosa-Porter went through what he considered an "exile" period, as the severity of the COVID plague forced him to put his career ambitions on hold. Unable to continue living in California due to industry shutdowns, Sosa-Porter spent a year in the far north countryside of Minnesota with his mother's family, doing forestry work.
In the summer of 2021, Sosa-Porter returned to Los Angeles and began to pick up the pieces of his life and acting career. Between jobs, Sosa-Porter supports himself by working in bars and has done so since the day he turned 21, but maintains a straight edge lifestyle dedicated to health and wellness. Outside of his work life, Sosa-Porter is a venturesome hobbyist who enjoys trying new things.
