Madelyn Strutz
- Soundtrack
Wolfgang Strutz is the music project of Olympia via Chicago songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Madelyn Strutz. Her succinct and melodic compositions are carried by uniquely ethereal vocal harmonies.
Her beginnings as a music major at Columbia College brought multiple sides of expansion. While studying the roots of Modern, African, and American Folk music, she found herself enlisted as a member of the Alternative Folk band Odd Folk touring the Midwest and ultimately releasing a digital EP containing the song "Sorry I'm Arrogant & Obsessive," featuring her vocalized intro that reached commercial success as the soundtrack in a television ad campaign for Tempe Arizona's award winning creperie, Crepe Bar.
Continuing to expand while still an active member of Odd Folk, Madelyn also self-released a solo digital album of rare and lesser known hymns titled "Wolfgang Strutz sings Hymns" that gained critical praise.
In the following year Madelyn started a new chapter in her music career with the highly anticipated release of originals "Wolfgang Strutz". An album entirely written and performed by her and supported with a music video for the song "To Allow It".
After relocating to Olympia Washington she released the album "Washington State" and the music video "Baby Face".
Recently her songs were featured in the feature film "Mercury in Retrograde" Starring Najarra Townsend, Roxane Mesquida & Andrew Sensenig. Written/directed by Michael Glover Smith.
Beyond continuing her solo efforts, Strutz continues to collaborate with a number of Pacific Northwest musicians on recordings and live performances.
