During the final moments of Quentin Tarantino’s revisionist World War II drama “Inglorious Basterds” (2009), Brad Pitt’s foul-mouthed, no-nonsense team leader of the eponymous nazi-killing squad Lieutenant Aldo Raine asks the ruthless High Ranking S.S. Officer Hans Landa whether, once the war is over and he is left free, he will take his military regalia off. Typically, Lt. Raine would not hesitate terminating Third Reich officials of any ranking, for their crimes warrant only one fate. In the exceptional case that he must leave a Nazi alive for whichever reason, he would only do so under a strict condition: to mark them for life by carving a swastika on the individual’s forehead, an identifier for all the world to see that they would never be able to erase or hide, much less take off.

DC Studios Rejig Release Slate As James Gunn Gives Updates On Batman, Teen Titans, Clayface And More
Time flies when you're having fun — and when you're trying to build a cinematic universe, too. Somehow, it's already been two years since DC Studios head honchos James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed the roadmap for their newly christened Dcu, announcing a wildly ambitious "Gods And Monsters" first phase comprising 10 projects. Now, as the first major movie from that slate, Gunn's own Superman, gets ready to take flight this July, Gunn and Safran have taken some time to give fans an update on their ever-evolving future plans — including Batman: The Brave And The Bold, a proposed live-action Teen Titans movie, Clayface, and much more besides.
At a gathering of the press last Friday, Gunn and Safran held court to talk films and TV shows that are in production, that need more time, and that are in the early stages of development. On the in production front, as of right...

There has been a lot of news from DC Studios in the past several days. Some of it has been great, some of it has been less than great, and some of it is somewhere in the No Man’s Land of interpretation and opinion that lies between the two. Some of it is a bit concerning when it comes to how this universe is coming together. Ideally, this universe will mimic what happens in the comics with standalone stories, crossovers, and huge Crisis style events. We don’t want a carbon copy of the MCU, but they are both based in comic books.
Let’s quickly go over some of the news recently broken.
Matt Reeves still hasn’t finished the script for The Batman which isn’t entirely surprising considering the huge delay. Gunn said it’s “not the plan” to have Pattinson become the Dcu’s Dark Knight,...

It’s been just over two years since James Gunn and Peter Safran mapped out their initial slate of projects for DC Studios and what would be the newly revamped Dcu, a new interconnected universe of superhero movies and films based on DC characters and kicking off in earnest with Gunn’s “Superman” arriving this summer.
So where do they stand? In a press event last week on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, Gunn and Safran held court with journalists about all they had cooking, the stuff that’s moving forward and the stuff that has lost the wind in its sails or has hit a snag. That included everything from details on the studio’s Batman films — both the Dcu film “The Brave and the Bold” and updates on the non-canon “The Batman 2” from Matt Reeves — as well as a potential “Teen Titans” movie and the update...

At the end of January 2023, DC Studios gathered select members of the press and announced plans for a Dcu slate dubbed "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters." Many fans pointed out the similarities to Warner Bros.'s ill-fated 11-movie Dceu slate reveal in 2014 and, unfortunately, some of these Dcu projects aren't moving along as well as hoped.
Talking to press, co-ceo Peter Safran said of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker spin-off Waller, "We’ve taken a couple of cracks at it but still haven’t been able land. Waller has been a bumpy road."
The Authority, meanwhile, is "not the furthest along" according to James Gunn and, subsequently, "hasn't been made much [of] a priority." Safran explained, "It is a very big movie, if you’re going to do it properly. Some of the story elements perhaps that are in Superman and some of the other films we fast-tracked, step a little on the Authority.

According to DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, the age of Gods and Monsters will soon be upon us. Like Marvel Studios’s “phases,” Gods and Monsters provides a roadmap for DC’s film and television initiative. Gunn and Safran shared an outline of their plan in January 2023, though, as we know, everything in Hollywood is subject to change, especially when the project is as vast as Gods and Monsters. According to the duo, they plan to release two live-action films and one animated film annually. In contrast, Max, the HBO-adjacent streaming service, wants two live-action and two animated series annually. However, 2025 is an exception, with Peacemaker Season 2 being the only live-action release this year.
“We’ve unified the brand, greenlit five theatrical films, made three live action-series and producing five animated series. We’ve also acquired and distributed a BAFTA and PGA winning documentary,” Safran said at a press conference on Friday.

In September, the trades revealed that DC Studios had tapped Captain America: Brave New World writer Matthew Orton to pen a Deathstroke/Bane team-up movie.
Many have wondered whether it's secretly a Secret Six project, though James Gunn has confirmed on multiple occasions that he has plans for DC's Terminator in the Dcu. What we don't know is who will play the fan-favourite villain, though Gunn likely has big plans for the character.
According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, "[DC Studios] already have someone in mind to play Deathstroke in the Dcu so casting should be not too far [away]."
This is a positive update and one that suggests we'll soon see another major character added to the Dcu. How Gunn casts Slade Wilson will be very interesting, particularly as the character has frequently been portrayed as different ages on the page.

Since the original Die Hard took the world by storm in 1988, it has inspired countless sequels and knock-offs. Often built around the same basic premise, these films have become a sub-genre in their own right. From Die Hard 2: Die Harder set in an airport, to Under Siege on a naval vessel, Passenger 57 on a plane, and even Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down in the White House, the formula has been repeated in various locations, with a lone hero taking on the bad guys and saving the hostages.

Certain cinematic elements automatically pique my interest in a film. When it comes to Cleaner, the starring role of Daisy Ridley (Star Wars Sequel Trilogy), the direction of Martin Campbell, and a Die Hard-style premise all meet – if not exceed – the minimum requirements to get me to the big screen or, in this case, the comfort of my couch. However, these elements alone don’t mean expectations can’t be adjusted realistically.
Looking at the official synopsis of Cleaner, I expected nothing more, nothing less than a generic variation of the successful formula established by the aforementioned classic. Ridley plays Joey, a former soldier turned window cleaner who finds herself suspended 50 stories high on the exterior of a skyscraper after a group of radical activists takes control of an energy company’s annual gala. With 300 hostages and a terrorist infiltrator among the activists, Joey is forced to save the innocent...

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is MCU’s most recent installment and Sam Wilson’s first solo adventure as Captain America as he faces Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross, who over the course of the movie becomes the Red Hulk.
The film has allegedly faced its share of challenges, including reshoots, plot leaks, and mixed reactions from test screenings. Some reports suggested that test audiences found the political themes unengaging, the action underwhelming, and the romance lacking chemistry.
To address these concerns, reshoots took place over the summer, reportedly adding $100 million to the budget. Some sources even hint that elements of the ‘World War Hulk’ storyline may have been incorporated into the story.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has hit some speed bumps recently. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels under-performed at the box office and some of the Disney+ shows were poorly received… but the universe rebounded with the success of Deadpool & Wolverine last year, and the next addition to the MCU, Captain America: Brave New World, is set to reach theatres on February 14th. The next addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: Brave New World, is set to reach theatres on February 14, 2025 – and this one is going to be keeping viewers in theatres for a shorter time than previous films in the Captain America franchise have. Theatre listings have revealed that Captain America: Brave New World has a running time of 118 minutes, so it comes in at 6 minutes shorter than Captain America: The First Avenger (124 minutes), 18 minutes shorter than Captain America: The Winter Soldier (136 minutes), and 30 minutes shorter than Captain America: Civil War (148 minutes). While it ranks on the lower end of Marvel Cinematic Universe running times, there are several MCU movies that are shorter than 118 minutes: The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Thor: The Dark World, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, and The Marvels.

At one point, Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke was set to play a big role in the Dceu. The plan was for Lex Luthor to reveal Batman’s secret identity to Slade Wilson in a post-credits scene in Justice League. This would have set up Deathstroke as the main villain in an earlier version of The Batman, which was supposed to be directed by Ben Affleck.
However, things changed when Affleck stepped down as director. Instead, Justice League’s theatrical version, directed by Joss Whedon, teased Deathstroke joining the “Injustice Society” in its post-credits scene. Although this shift disappointed many fans, there were still talks about a standalone Deathstroke film directed by Gareth Evans.

Instead, the theatrical version of Justice League, helmed by Joss Whedon, teased Deathstroke joining the “Injustice Society” in its post-credits scene. While the shift disappointed many, there were still whispers of a standalone Deathstroke film directed by Gareth Evans of The Raid fame.

There was a time when Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke was being lined up for a huge role in the Dceu. Original plans called for the villain to learn Batman's secret identity in Justice League's post-credits scene (courtesy of Lex Luthor), setting the stage for him to hunt down Bruce Wayne in the pre-Robert Pattinson version of The Batman.
That all changed when Ben Affleck decided not to direct the movie, leading to Joss Whedon's Justice League showing Slade Wilson being enlisted to the "Injustice Society" instead. Despite the change, there were later rumblings about a Deathstroke spin-off helmed by The Raid's Gareth Evans.

Following an initial online rumor, we got confirmation that a live-action Teen Titans movie was in the works at DC Studios back in March with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow writer Ana Nogueira enlisted to pen the script.
Updates have been few and far between since, but a recent Production Weekly logline did claim to reveal the key team members: "The Teen Titans are further apart than ever before… until Damian Wayne recruits Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy and the new Kid Flash to join him in a fight against his own grandfather, Ra’s al Ghul."
However, we'd later hear that the movie will focus on a "pre-existing team being revived," which suggested that the roster would more likely consist of the original '60s comic book line-up: Kid Flash (Wally West), Robin (Dick Grayson), Aqualad (Garth) and Wonder Girl (Donna Troy).
Now, scooper Daniel Richtman is reporting that the movie's...

When James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios, they revealed a large list of upcoming projects across animation, live-action, TV shows, and movies.
In addition to the projects already in development, new ones like Dynamic Duo and Teen Titans have been announced, while some, like the rumored Clayface movie, are still speculative.
Recently, industry insider Daniel Richtman shared a new set of leaks on his private Patreon, mostly focused on lesser-known projects within the Dcu.
Let’s start with the Bane & Deathstroke movie. A few weeks ago, it was announced that DC Studios is working on a live-action film featuring these two iconic villains. The script is written by Matthew Orton, but no director has been confirmed yet.
Details about the movie are scarce, and it’s still unclear whether it will be part of the main Dcu or set in another cinematic universe, like the Batman Epic Crime Saga.

Back in September, we got word that two of the Dark Knight's most formidable foes are set to forces for a new live-action Dcu movie, with a Bane and Deathstroke project officially in development at DC Studios.
Details were few and far between and no director was attached at the time, but Captain America: Brave New World writer Matthew Orton was said to be working on the script.
A follow-up report suggested that other characters might also appear, as it wasn't clear whether Bane and Deathstroke "would be the central figures of the project." This led to speculation that it could actually be another supervillain team-up, possibly even a Secret Six movie.
James Gunn never actually commented on the report, but he has now confirmed that plans are in place to introduce Slade Wilson (at least) to the Dcu at some point.

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Teases Red Hulk Showdown With Anthony Mackie’s Cap in New Trailer
Cap is back… again!
Marvel unveiled the latest trailer for “Captain America: Brave New World” at the first-ever D23 Brazil fan event on Saturday. Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson/Captain America, and Danny Ramirez, who portrays Joaquin Torres/Falcon, were there to greet fans before the new trailer was shown.
The film includes Mackie as Sam Wilson, Harrison Ford’s U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, Ramirez as the new Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Shira Haas as the Israeli superhero Sabra, Giancarlo Esposito as Sidewinder, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross and Tim Blake Nelson as the Leader.
Mackie took over the Cap mantle from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, who famously starred in the previous three Captain America movies and the four Avengers films. At the end of 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” Steve bids farewell to his fellow superheroes and goes back in time to spend a new life with his beloved Peggy Carter.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been in a holding pattern of late. The once all-powerful franchise that dominated the box office for a decade plus to the delight of comic book fans and disdain of cinephiles started experiencing turbulence in 2021 with the mixed response to "Eternals" before finding the ditch a year ago with "The Marvels." When Jonathan Majors, who'd been cast as Kang (aka the franchise's next Thanos), was convicted of assault and harassment, Marvel Studios was forced to find a new way forward.
The MCU hit a throwing save this summer with "Deadpool & Wolverine," an inherited franchise from what is now known as 20th Century Studios. The film didn't push the overall narrative forward, but it made a barge-full of cash and bought them some time as the prepare to take their first step forward post-Majors with "Captain America: Brave New World."

Venom: The Last Dance star Tom Hardy has revealed whether he would want to reprise the role of Bane in the upcoming Deathstroke/Bane movie from DC Studios. One of the mystery projects that is being developed by DC Studios is the Bane and Deathstroke team-up movie, which will be written by Matthew Orton. While it is unclear if it is part of James Gunn's DC Universe or not, this will bring the iconic Batman villains back to the big screen, as Bane hasn't been seen since 2012's The Dark Knight Rises, while Deathstroke only had a cameo in the Dceu.

The very first test-screenings for Captain America: Brave New World (then known as New World Order) were said to have been met with a mostly negative response, which is believed to have prompted Marvel Studios to order extensive reshoots.
Additional photography for the sequel took place over a 4-month period, with Marvel enlisting Moon Knight writer Matthew Orton to pen new scenes and material for the film. Reshoots are the norm (especially for major studio tentpoles), but such a significant period of AP led to speculation that the studio must be making some major changes to the story.
Some new test-screenings reportedly took place last week, and, based on what we're hearing, this version of the movie didn't go over much better.
Apparently, two screenings were held, with attendees split into groups with either a green or red bracelet. An initial report from World of Reel claimed that two cuts of the film were shown,...

The upcoming Deathstroke and Bane movie offers a great opportunity for DC to capitalize on the Dceu's unused plans for Deathstroke. The lineup of upcoming DC movies and shows has seen a lot of changes in recent history, with the end of the Dceu and beginning of the DC Universe meaning a fresh new world and fresh new slate of projects with it. While the likes of the Dcu's Superman movie and Batman-focused The Brave and The Bold film are arguably predictable releases, plenty of less easily anticipated titles have also been announced among them.
One of the more unexpected announcements is that of a Deathstroke and Bane movie, which was revealed to be in the works in late September 2024. While there is currently no director reportedly attached to the project, Moon Knight and Captain America: Brave New World writer Matthew Orton is set to write the script for the movie,...

The upcoming Bane and Deathstroke movie has the potential to be more than just a surprising team-up between the Batman villains, and I'm convinced the DC movie will be revealed to serve as the replacement for the Suicide Squad on the big screen. With James Gunn and Peter Safran at DC Studios, the company is looking at the next decade of DC releases, which includes movies, series, animation, video games, and more. I'm excited about this new era of content, which will feature the announced DC Universe projects, more surprise entries in the Dcu, Elseworlds movies and shows, and more.

Dave Bautista has had an excellent relationship with DC Universe co-ceo James Gunn since appearing in his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, and the actor has spoken many times of a desire to play a certain DC role. Bautista's Drax quickly became a humorous and beloved part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and remained such until his seeming final appearance in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3. It appears that Bautista has moved on from the role - but, despite finding success in other genres, he has spoken of a willingness to return to another kind of superhero movie role.

Two of Batman’s most popular foes, Bane and Deathstroke, are set to share the screen as Warner Bros’ new look DC Universe continues to take shape.
Both Bane and Deathstroke have graced cinema screens before. When it comes to the comic books, the duo are among the more beloved members of Batman’s colourful cast of villains, and it looks like that popularity has led to a supervillain team-up movie that will introduce the characters to James Gunn’s all-new DC Universe.
Next year will see Warner Bros’ new line of DC movies kick off with Superman: Legacy, written and directed by Gunn himself. Following that, a string of films have been announced including a Batman movie, The Brave And The Bold and Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow. Then there are planned TV shows such as HBO’s Lanterns, a space cop series that will feature the Green Lantern corps.

Yesterday evening, the news broke that DC Studios is developing a Bane & Deathstroke (Deathstroke & Bane?) team-up movie from Captain America: Brave New World writer Matthew Orton.
For fans of the iconic villains, this came as an exciting development, even if it does seem a little odd for James Gunn and Peter Safran to seemingly be prioritising these two over the likes of Batman and Wonder Woman.
It didn't take long for some fans to point out that this feels like a blatant way to try and emulate Deadpool & Wolverine's success. However, there could be more to the project than meets the eye.
According to Deadline's report, "Exact plot details are still uncertain and sources also stressed the two characters would be in the movie but it’s unclear if they would be the central figures of the project."
In other words, it may not be a feature revolving solely around the two Batman villains.
