Cassandra Baker was born in Owensboro, KY where she began her film career. She is best known for her special effects work in "Fall of Grayskull" (2015) and "Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories" (2016). Before becoming interested in film, she worked as an artist in a Halloween prop shop called Dream Scape Studios. The shop specialized in life sized zombies and clowns for haunted houses and theme parks. During her time with Dream Scape she learned a variety of processes she would later apply to her career in special effects. She worked seasonally with Dream Scape Studios from 2008 to 2012.
In 2014, she was asked to participate in the creation of a local commercial to be aired in Bowling Green, KY and Nashville, TN during the Walking Dead commercial breaks. The commercial was for a Kia and Hyundai dealership with locations in both cities. With extreme excitement she took on the challenge and realized in the process that special effects were her calling. She went on to do a second zombie commercial for the same dealership later that year.
In 2015, Baker was invited to join the crew for the Heman fan film, "Fall of Grayskull." She was named the special effects supervisor and the short film opened a new door for her in the world of practical effects. She says that the "Melting face" effect was her favorite practical effect to date. It gave her more confidence in her skills opened the door for her position with the Volumes of Blood franchise.
In April of 2016, Baker was approached by producers from Volumes of Blood and became their special effects supervisor for the film. She was responsible for over 20 onscreen kills and will go on to be the special effects supervisor for the third film, "A Devil's Knight."
In February of 2017, Baker was selected to complete special effects makeup for a local rap artist, Cas One, in his music video "Staying Gold."
Baker says she is gearing up for a short film called "E-BOWLA" to be filmed in Henderson, KY and also a feature length film called "Angel," to be filmed in Frankfort, KY. She is working to build a film portfolio and get her resume out into the world. Walking Dead, she's coming for you!
