For instance, his short film " Devil's Deception" won the 2nd Prize at the 48th Nasreddin Hodja Comedy Films Festival in 2007 and was selected for the 14th Golden Boll Film Festival in Adana the same year. Another short film, "Two Breads and a Yoga," was selected for the Yilmaz Güney Film Festival in 2009.During this period, he founded Film Fabrikasi, a platform which produced significant short and feature film directors of the 2000s. He organized the Kissadan Hisse Kisa Film Festivali for 7 consecutive years.
His first feature-length was a feature film adaptation of the play "This is a Robbery," which criticized the banking system. In April 2013, he made his debut in Turkish horror cinema with the film Ammar: Cin Tarikati (Ammar: Order of the Jinn), which was outside his usual style. The film was released in March 2014 and became one of the notable examples of the genre. Ammar received remake offers from Hollywood. He continued making horror films due to the film's budget-box office performance and its impact.
Successfully transferring his directing skills to other genres, Özgür Bakar achieved significant box office success in comedy cinema and also made notable feature films in action, war, and biography genres.
He is married and has two children.
