- Hussain Ahmed was born August 17, 1985 in Kurdistan, a country in Northern Iraq. When he was 4 years old, Saddam Hussein attacked and gassed Kurds and killed nearly 9,000 men, women and children within just a few hours. Immediately his family along with thousands of others fled in search of a better life. Some to Turkey, Iran, India or Pakistan. Life was miserable for many years due to being a political refugee. Then when Ahmed was 15 years old the United Nations stepped in and helped his family relocate to America! They asked his father, "where do you want to go" and opened a map on the desk. He randomly pointed, to Louisville Kentucky where his family still resides. Hussain began his schooling in the states in high school and when he began his first class the teacher calmly repositioned the pencil from his clenched fist and returned it to a writers hold. He is now an avid writer, director and producer of several touching films.
Ahmed is now engaged in several projects with many Independent professionals and working his way up a long and challenging climb to the top. During all of these connections he found his way toward hundreds of children that were relocating from Syria and living in such dire needs that he would, during his film travels, stop and visit their devastating camps. In London, he refused to stay in a hotel, camping out for a week with these desolated families and providing food and health care for them. Ahmed was able to connect with a public relations company to show his "In Search of Light" film at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival so that he could then move on to Lebanon to find another camp with the same conditions and sad children. He, of course, provided more assistance, even securing 2 foster parent families to take in a little boy in one and a little girl in another. He refused media during this time last year and moves forward with dignity and strength to tell other stories of courage and love.
Ahmed continues with Wolf at the Door (pre-production) 2016, Heat in the West (post-production) among several other creative screenwriting plans.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Sandra Smith-Doghmi
