Nicole Kidman’s new erotic thriller “Babygirl” not only features holiday scenes, but A24 is releasing the movie on Dec. 25. So does this make the R-rated film a Christmas movie?

“Let’s hope so,” Kidman, who plays a tech company CEO having a kink-filled affair with an intern (Harris Dickinson), told me with a laugh at the film’s premiere Wednesday in Los Angeles. “Somebody thinks it is… A24 is very subversive. They seem to go against the grain always, so maybe [Christmas] is the right time.”

Dickinson weighed in, “It’s absolutely a Christmas movie. I didn’t know it was going to be, but it turned out to be so I’m going with it.”

Josh O’Connor has been recruited for Steven Spielberg’s new film, The Dish, as the ensemble continues to grow.

The cast for Steven Spielberg’s next film continues to expand, with the ensemble sounding more impressive with each new name. Although his involvement was rumoured a while back, it has now been confirmed (via Deadline) that Josh O’Connor has joined the cast of the project, which is believed to be titled The Dish.

Ever since news of the project first broke back in April of this year, the buzz surrounding Spielberg’s next film has it pegged as a UFO movie, returning the filmmaker to the backdrop which he reshaped several times with films like E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and then years later, War of The Worlds.

O’Connor joins an impressive ensemble that already includes Colman Domingo, Emily Blunt, Colin Firth and Eve Hewson.

The screenplay is based on a story by Spielberg and expected to incorporate sci-fi elements. Kristie Macosko Krieger, who has collaborated with Spielberg on everything from “A.I. Little is known about the project although sources said it has sci-fi elements and marks Spielberg’s first so-called tentpole production since 2018’s Ready Player One. It is based on a story by the filmmaker while the screenplay is by David Koepp, whose previous work with Spielberg includes the scripts for Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Christopher Nolan is adding more A-listers to his latest film, with Zendaya and Anne Hathaway joining the cast of the director’s next feature.

Zendaya will join her Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland in the untitled Nolan feature that will also star Matt Damon. As for Hathaway, she will be reuniting with Nolan, having previously worked with the director on the Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises.

After a relatively public first wave of production for Paul Thomas Anderson’s next feature across California, things have recently been kicking back up after a few quiet months. Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn were recently spotted in the northeast of San Diego at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, in scenes featuring high-speed cars, crashes, and gunplay as PTA is clearly making the most of his $115 million budget and IMAX release. Now, we have a new addition to the ensemble.

Benicio del Toro, who gave one of the best performances of his career as Sauncho Smilax, Esq. in PTA’s last Thomas Pynchon adaptation, Inherent Vice, will reteam with the director. The news was buried deep in a THR article about Hollywood layers noting under Steve Warren: “Clients Benicio del Toro and Leonardo DiCaprio will co-star in Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film — after del Toro finishes work on Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme.

Most of Wild Wild West plays exactly in the way you would expect, as a uglier, less charismatic version of Men in Black. Sure, Will Smith still has his ineffable cool and Kevin Kline’s always lovable, even when playing a motor-mouthed and egotistical inventor. But the two just don’t click like Smith did with Tommy Lee Jones, and Barry Sonnenfeld’s direction feels forced and mechanical instead of electric. The next three A24 films that will be available in the IMAX Experience for its monthly screening series are the highly-anticipated director’s cut of “Midsommar” on Thursday, June 20, Mat Whitecross’ “Oasis: Supersonic” on Tuesday, July 16, and Best Picture winner “Everything Everywhere All At Once” on Wednesday, August 28.

The A24 x IMAX Present screening series continues every month for the next year, with IMAX digitally remastering classics from A24’s premium library of more than 140 feature films. Previous remastered and launched films include Alex Garland’s “Ex Machina,” Ari Aster’s “Hereditary,” and the Safdie Brothers’ “Uncut Gems.”

“I’m incredibly lucky that Paul indulges me and gives me so much time to experiment and compose,” Greenwood tells The Guardian. “That’s not usually the case in Hollywood, where the soundtrack writers are often very far down the food chain, and are sometimes given only a couple of days to bash out a complete score.”

According to Zack Snyder, one of the most significant Dceu storylines seems to have originated from none other than Oscar-winning star Leonardo DiCaprio. The 49-year-old actor was once considered for the role of Lex Luthor, Superman’s greatest enemy. In an exclusive interview with Josh Horowitz for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the director disclosed that he had a meeting with the Titanic star to discuss the role in his 2016 superhero flick, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

However, Jesse Eisenberg ultimately won the role. Snyder also recalled that DiCaprio came up with the plan to pit Henry Cavill’s Superman against the Justice League. Sadly, the Dceu timeline came to an end in 2023 (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom), capping ten years of superhero films that started with Snyder’s Man of Steel (2013).

With production still underway across California with the cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Wood Harris, Alana Haim, and Chase Infiniti, Warner Bros. has now set an August 8, 2025 wide release, including an IMAX run, for what they describe as an “event film.”

It’s not the first time the director’s work has been seen on an IMAX screen as his Thom Yorke collaboration Anima received a limited run in the format. Though no IMAX cameras have been spotted on set thus far, VistaVision cameras have been seen shooting in 35mm, which should look gorgeous if 70mm prints are made. The next Paul Thomas Anderson movie has a release date.

While announcing several calendar placements for its upcoming theatrical slate, Warner Bros. revealed on Tuesday that Anderson’s untitled project starring Leonardo DiCaprio will arrive in theaters (including IMAX venues) on August 8, 2025.

Little is officially known about Anderson’s new movie, other than its cast: DiCaprio, Sean Penn, “Licorice Pizza” breakout Alana Haim, “A Thousand and One” star Teyana Taylor, and Regina Hall. Unofficially, however, the film has a reported budget north of $115 million, according to Variety. There has also been broad and unconfirmed speculation that the untitled feature is at least partially inspired or based on Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel “Vineland.” That book was set in the mid-1980s, although it’s unclear if Anderson’s potential take on the material would follow its same timeline. (Anderson previously adapted Pynchon’s “Inherent Vice” for the big screen.)

The gritty comic book sequel “The Batman Part II,” in which the actor will play the Caped Crusader again, has been postponed a year. It will debut in theaters on Oct. 2, 2026 instead of its original date of Oct. 3, 2025.

In addition to the move, Warner Bros., the studio behind the superhero tentpole, has shuffled around other titles on its release calendar. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Bride,” starring Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley and Peter Sarsgaard, will take “The Batman” sequel’s old spot on Oct. 3, 2025. And “Alto Knights,” a mob drama starring two Robert De Niros, has relocated from Nov. 15, 2024 to March 21, 2025.
