Gregory Sandoval is an experienced professional in art direction, set design and construction management. He is best known for Art Direction on Cry Macho (2021), The First Lady (2022), and The Marksman (2021). Other work as art director in film and TV include: Messiah (2020), Rattlesnake (2019), Ideal Home (2018), and Lioness (2023).
His varied experience in film and TV began as a set designer on Breaking Bad (2008) and Castle Rock (2018). His work as assistant art director can be seen on Better Call Saul (2015), Preacher (2016), and Manhattan (2014).
Gregory worked his way through high school as a furniture designer/builder. He holds two professional degrees; a Bachelor of Architecture from the School of Architecture & Environmental Design at Cal-Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA, USA and a Master of Architecture from the School of Architecture & Planning at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA. He began his professional career as an architect in 1992. Gregory has managed design-construction projects for over 30 years in the film industry and in architecture; including as an architect in Madrid, Spain for 5 years.
Gregory is married to Lisa A. Sandoval. The couple have been married since 2000, they have four children. He was born in Albuquerque, NM, USA to Eileen (Moots), a painter and fine artist; graduate of The Chicago Art Institute and George Sandoval, a furniture designer and industrial artist; graduate of the University of New Mexico. Gregory graduated from St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque.
He is fluent in written/spoken Spanish. He studied at the Facultad de Bellas Artes and the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. He holds the highest certificate (Superior) of Spanish Language proficiency given by the Kingdom of Spain / Ministry of Sciences and Education. He and Lisa are citizens of the USA and Spain.
